HEALTH Why Electing Obama Means Fewer Abortions

Here is why I think that the election of Barak Obama will reduce the number of induced abortions worldwide:

Because the Obama administration will (I think) restore funding for international programs that provide birth control (and abortion) and other means of empowerment for third world poor women, there will be fewer unwanted pregnancies; less demand for abortions.

In this country, more access to sex education and pregnancy prevention as well as a renewed emphasis on women's other alternatives.

Abortion realities

A number of anti-abortion activists across the country have looked fully in the face of a Barack Obama presidency and foreseen that, with this ardently pro-choice president in place, chances that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade in the next four years will be nil.
They prudently have decided to put their energies toward making abortion a less-attractive choice by strengthening the social programs that would help more pregnant women choose life for the unborn.

Other activists have said that this nod to practicality is selling out, that it undermines the progress the pro-life movement has made.

No one is asking anyone to lay down deeply held moral convictions, but as Douglas W. Kmiec, a Pepperdine University law professor and a Catholic who opposes abortion, asked, "If one strategy has failed and failed over decades, and you have empirical information that tells how you can honor life and encourage women to make that choice by meeting real needs that are existing and tangible, why not do that?"

More than 1.2 million abortions are performed each year in the United States. Any effort from any law-abiding front to reduce that number should be praised.

Douglas Kmiec: Barack Obama More Catholic Than Previous Pro-Life Presidents

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The Pepperdine law professor who calls himself a pro-life Catholic but was one of the leading apologists for perhaps the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in history is at it again. Douglas Kmiec is now saying Barack Obama is more Catholic than previous presidents who were pro-life.

Kmiec's comments come in response to some from Cardinal J. Francis Stafford, head of the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See, who called Obama on the carpet on abortion in a speech at the Catholic University of America last Thursday.

In an address sponsored by the John Paul II Institute, Stafford called Obama's pro-abortion policies “aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic" and that the senator campaigned on an “extremist anti-life platform.”

CNN conducted a follow-up interview with Cardinal Stafford, who stood by his remarks.

Stafford told the cable news network that he couldn't understand how any Catholic could support Obama because of his radical views in favor of taxpayer-funded abortions, unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy and overturning all of the hundreds of abortion reduction laws in all 50 states.

As a result, Stafford says Obama "is hostile to the life of an unborn child.“

That's where Kmiec come in to play.

The CUA Tower student newspaper interviewed him in response to Stafford's comments.

Kmiec told the paper that Stafford was giving a false portrayal of Obama and accused him of talking about Obama's abortion views not as they are but as they are made out to be by opponents.

“Sometimes all of us — even the wisest among us – are given to speak not from personal knowledge, but from that which has been portrayed as true, but is really a caricature,” said Kmiec in an interview with The Tower.

“When Stafford gets to know Obama better, said Kmiec, he will readily see that Obama “has far more in common with our great faith tradition than any political administration in recent memory.

With pro-life champions in office like President Ronald Reagan and President Bush, who signed numerous pro-life laws, even a pro-life Obama would be hard-pressed to match the accomplishments of their administration -- yet alone a president who could become the most pro-abortion in history.

What a baffoon, turncoat and fake Kmiec is! He knows Obama is so pro-abortion he even is willing to let a baby that was slated to abort but born alive to die. Abortion will not decrease...it will only increase.

Oh and this country has had more access to sex education and sex protection since the 1970's!! Sex is so talked about and Jr./Senior High school students are taught so much about sex it almost comes short of an actual live demonstrations! They're taught The Pill, they're taught abortion and they're shown how important the condom is, how to put on a condom, when to use it and what brands to use. Yet....I bet even if they mass dropped millions of condoms and Pills in the streets, in the schools and even in the back yards of houses kids STILL won't use them! That's because there's two things they forgot to teach:

1. Morals and respect for themselves and chastity.

2. How to say NO even if it "spoils the moment."

(And we all know how teens live for the "moment!" :shk:)
