OMG, I can't believe my eyes. So much for red, white and blue. No one dresses a child in black unless it is part of a statement. She was making a statement. The anarchist colors yes. She chose that dress. That woman would not have worn it if she did not choose to. That definately IS BLACK WIDOW SPIDER DESIGN.

Havent' seen footage and this is the first time seeing that picture because I'm avoiding looking at him/them as much as possible but the first thing I saw was a black widow spider too! Not only that, but I also had the impression of millions of droplets of blood in the edging as the red fades out!

It was deliberate of course. It says to me that they are sending a very clear message that this new admin will be in your face differant. To h*ll with the dignity and respect for the office that has always been. It says to me "this is how we dress in our culture (forget American), get used to it".

She looks cheap.That dress is ugly at best and it was VERY poor taste on such an important night.She did look like a black widow.

My first real thoughts were she has black and red on. Something out of a witches party. This colors are bold, and go together but they give me a sense of evil. Though, I could see how someone might say the dress was tasteful, however, the boldness of the colors showed lack of humility. Against very black skin or very white skin most colors will play well, so she could have worn another color. Green would have meant money, yellow would have brought out her color more but various shades of blue would have been my choice, blue always to me means depth.

I was on the phone with my best friend watching and the first thing we both said about the dress was, she needs a larger size. Didn't think about a spider. I can't believe my friend was upset that Obama won, this was the first time she has ever voted for a Republican. Maybe now she will stop razing me for voting for the lesser of the two evils in 04 when I voted Republican.

Yes, very trendy for the tween group, they are all fashionistas at that age, as well as pastels. This is one of my favorites (decided not to add link to my site, it would be tacky). Red for the holidays, very hot. I know, I sell dresses, I go to fashion and trade shows. Business is good. People last night saw what those little girls were wearing and they are going to want that for their daughters.
Look what JackieO did for fashion same with Princess Diana etc.........people follow suite.
End of rant, I gotta go to work.

Exactly. Cute as that little girl is, black is too mature for her. She should have been in a pink dress or even a bright yellow would have been adorable on her. black is too severe for any little girl unless for a funeral.

I agree, the dresses were not the right pick for the girls, they looked like they were going to a tacky wedding. I have three girls and I make sure they look their age and dress traditionally at all times. On the other, hand Joe Bidens little girl was perfection!
Michele looked like she was going to a cocktail party and even her earrings were off-hoops? I don't think so. Michelle should have worn a cashmere turtle neck with a matching pencil skirt and a double faced wool coat in the same color, she should have topped it off with big pearl studs. I don't see Michele as as style maker-the clothes wear her and not vice versa.

Interesting side note... as i drove to work this morning they were asking some Chinese people what they thought about the new president.
These chinese folks were saying he is bad luck... when asked why they went on to say because of the number 4.
