What is a corrupted executable file and should I worry?

I use this Windows7 machine mostly for work.

I have AVG and when I ran a scan I got a notice about a potentially dangerous item.

I have no idea what it is or how to proceed, so advice please? I'm not very Windows savvy, usually use my mac for most things.

Thanks!

Nope don't worry about it and don't do anything. That file is a 'dll' which is a dynamic link library type file. Just let AVG scan it and do what it wants to with it. For bad files it will usually just quarantine them. A 'corrupted' file is one that wasn't downloaded correctly or a potential backdoor for some malware. If you do a internet search on that particular file [mfc45.dll] you will see that it's a pretty common type error. When in doubt just follow the recommendations that your antivirus makes. In this case it took care of it for you and just notified you about it.
