Good morning. It's sunny and bright. Friend came and got the lawn done for us.

I'm discovering that getting that stuff finished for the private client was weighing me down more than I realized. Now that it's done, I'm back to tackling the house as much as my body will allow.

I ordered vacuum seal bags for son's blankets. He has so many and they are taking up a lot of storage space. And they seem to attract moisture for some reason. So vacsealed. Then in storage bags with charcoal bags and cedar blocks or sachets. I've already got one storage back partially filled with twice as many blankets. I'm going to pull the other storage bags over the next few weeks, wash the blankets, and get them redone.

Oh, and bonus, in vacseal bags he is less likely to pull them and toss them out the window when he gets in one of his deep throwing sprees.

I'm going to try to get taxes done this week. I'm hoping that there is enough to replace all the garden beds and get a few other project supplies. Like redoing the pantry with industrial restaurant shelves, with covers.

I think I have mentally figured out what will happen in the sewing corner. And i realized that I need to start keeping the cardboard cores to wrapping paper and other items for rolling fabric. I'm probably going to end up with some wood wall shelves. Or maybe a wall mounted hutch.

The thrift that I go to a lot is starting to run thin on donations. In two years, I've never seen their shelves this bare. I just keep bringing them things as I clean. A friend keeps asking me why I don't do a yard sale, but I remember how much trouble that can be for so little reward.

Anyways, off to get more laundry done. Then repair a blanket. And mixed in there will be cleaning. Painting will have to wait because it's too cold right now.

Lots of plans for today. It's going to be a short busy week, so I"ve got a lot to get done. Checking on the news and praying for the people of Russia today. No matter which side you're on - the concert was filled with people like you and me trying to have a good time. Now their families are grieving the son, daughter, mom, sister, brother, dad that is no longer there. there is so much evil in the world today.

All I can do is clean up my little corner of the world, so that's what I'm doing.

It's 36 degrees and pouring rain, with occasional thunder. I'm cooking pork chops and a meatloaf for this week's meals. Also did some quick sweeping and dusting because if that's not done once a week in the spring and fall where I am, the dust gets thick enough to write grocery lists on.

If the weather improves, I'll go finish the rest of the errands from yesterday. Otherwise, I might have an early supper and watch a movie on DVD. I've got a stack to see and sewing to do, so that'll work out.

Wishing everyone a great week!

I absolutely hate having a yard sale, I'd much rather give stuff away.
I agree! DH and I recently cleaned out our closets and dressers, loaded it in the back of our truck and donated to the salvation army. While we were there, there was a beautiful blonde wood mid century modern dresser (with a hidden drawer!) sitting out front by itsself. DH asked the manager about it and she said $20 just to get rid of it. We went to pay for it and they were having a 50% off Saturday sale. We got it for $10! :)

Morning,

Good luck everyone with what you have planned. Supposed to be a ran/snow week here.

We've gotten a little outside work done as this last week was pretty nice.

Bought some seeds for the coming garden. Carrots, beets and Siberian tomato. It will be end of May to beginning of June before we can plant.

In my area yard sales are a bust ... no way ... donations all the time ...

I'm saddened to hear of Russian attacks, just ordinary people like you and me ... reminds me of Gazan killers in Israel ....

Methinks the "usual suspects" are involved in all this death ... and their leader is WELL KNOWN TO ALL CHRISTIANS ...

Home fellowship, today. One of our friends bought us 50 cupcakes!!! They had not been frosted, so I divided them up. Some I left out to frost, and the others went directly into the freezer in gallon freezer bags. She also brought us about 10lbs of raisons!!!! They were in individual bags, but I don't have room for them in either freezer. We don't eat raisons. She didn't know anyone else to give them to, and I don't, either. She had gotten her commodities boxes for the month, and they over supplied her with everything.

We're just relaxing, watching soccer games and movies the rest of the day. It's damp and coolish outside with rain moving in later tonight. Plus, Cary isn't feeling well, today. I don't know what's going on with him. His mind seems a bit disjointed. He has a Dr. appt. Wednesday for a checkup with his PCP. If he gets worse, we'll go to the ER. He's napping right now. Hopefully, he'll be better when he wakes up. I'm keeping a close watch on him. He's just not himself, today. Everyone noticed it during our home fellowship.

We'll have pizzas for supper tonight, unless he doesn't feel up to going to pick them up. If that's the case, we'll have sandwiches of some kind, and cupcakes for dessert.

Cary seems to be better since taking a nap. He's no longer reaching for words or slurring them. His mind is clearer, too. He was even misreading words while leading the bible study, today. I'm continuing to watch him closely. I just think he needs a good long rest for a week or two, but that's going to be hard to get him to do. The pressure and worry he's been under for a while now has also caused his BP to go way too high for the past few days, even with medication.

I hope stress is the cause, but I immediately thought of a small stroke or another seizure this morning.

Yeah, I think a doc needs to check him out soon. The slurring of words and high BP is scary. Prayers said!
I'm not a doc, that's for sure, but if you have any doubts, please go to the ER.

Had a tiny bit of drama earlier. I had ordered some tea I can't get locally along with several more pairs of merino wool socks through Amazon, "nice to have" items, not coming through any of the nastier mail hubs. I got notice that the packages were delivered, but there was nothing on my porch, nor had the neighbor dogs barked. I looked at the delivery photo, but not closely. I didn't enlarge it. I truly thought that my packages had been stolen, but my gut was telling me to slow down and think.

So, I made some tea, and then I enlarged the photo and looked at it again. The mats on the porch were the same color but not the same style as mine. I could see the corner of the house in the delivery photo: same color as mine.

Yep! They had been delivered to the wrong house, but which one? There are four houses in my area that have similar porches and paint colors, so I went for a walk, just to see if I saw the packages. When I got to the first house, a lady I had seen but had never spoken to opened the door as I was coming up the sidewalk. She asked if I was [my real first name] I said yes, and gave her my surname and described the packages, which she immediately gave me and introduced herself. She was about ready to walk over to my house!

So I got my stuff and met another neighbor. I imagine the Lord had a reason for that, or so I like to think.

Nice to have my tea. It's the perfect evening for it.

Made 3 new recipes to have over the week: Kolaches with plum filling, brown sugar pound cake, and braised short ribs. All keepers. Will be a short week with lots of stuff planned. Just found out (along with DD) that friends are having their first baby in August. Guess I"d better be looking at starting some baby blankets!

Prayers for you both.
Dh built another large bed, got the corn patch ready and meadow is reseeded.
I'm giving a young lady my looms and most of my yarns. She's sells her wares at her parents farmer's market stand. She also makes the best snickerdoodles. The whole family works on their small homestead which is our former farm. So glad we sold it to them.

I have a pork tenderloin and some tenderized round steaks thawing for meals this week plus some hamburger. Meal planning is helping me cook more. Veggies will be what I froze from the last harvest or the pantry.

Still in process of moving. Did a truckload in a U-Haul last Sunday. My son got a smaller truck than I said to get, so it wasn't big enough. Will have to rent another truck, probably next weekend.

Ended up in the Emergency Room again last Tuesday morning with the digestive issues. Got a doctor that actually listened to me this time, instead of fixating on only one symptom. I am doing better now than I have done in a long time. Was on a clear liquids diet for three days and am now on a soft bland diet for a while longer. I've eaten more gelatin the past week than I have the last five years total. Will still need to have some additional tests done as soon as I can get them scheduled after completing the move. I'm having trouble finding "in network" providers at the new location.

Downsizing as I pack for the move.

We're under a high wind warning, today. We could see a storm outbreak later on today into tonight, too. Nothing going on outside in this weather.

Cary is so much better this morning. He seems to be back to his old self. His BP is back to normal this morning, too. Although, at the moment, he's dealing with banking stuff, and that tends to get him a bit frustrated all over again. All of our online bill paying is going to change starting next month and even more the first of May when I go on Medicare. He's trying to get all the bill paying reorganized and set up ahead of time.

He does have a Dr. appt. Wednesday for a checkup, so he'll be telling Doc what happened, yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's going to turn out that it's just stress, but we'll see.

I frosted a dozen of the cupcakes that our friend brought us last night. I still don't know what to do with all these raisons. The rest of the cupcakes fit in my freezer, but not the raisons. I hate to see anything go to waste, but I'm thinking of seeing if the birds will eat them. Just a handful at a time.

It's a big laundry day for me today.

It's 51 degrees and pouring rain, which we need.

I wasn't only one who had mishandled packages yesterday. Another neighbor was looking for her packages. I recognized the ceramic frog and goose on the porch from her delivery photo (on her phone) and sent her down the street. [There's a lady who dresses her ceramic animals in outfits that match the weather. Yes, they still do that out here. No, I don't. I think it's stupid, but I keep my thoughts to myself. Everyone needs a hobby!]

We think they hired a foreign driver who doesn't know numbers.

Anyway, off to earn some money . . .

Hello everyone! We’ve had so much going on the past month I haven‘t had much time to even come and read let alone post. I hope you all are doing well. Sorry to read that Cary wasn’t feeling good @SouthernBreeze but glad he’s better today.

I’ve had a flare up with Fibromyalgia and have been so exhausted this past week and deep brain fog, I feel like I could sleep round the clock for days! I’ve been meaning to start some herb seeds but still haven’t managed to get that done yet. DH worked on fertilizing pastures today and I’ve been doing lots of laundry, just got the last load in the dryer.

Prep wise the past few weeks we haven’t done too much. Local store had smoked pork picnics on sale twice and DH has bought 7, I’ll probably cook one this week or weekend and the rest are for the freezer, a couple of 12 packs of t.p. and I ordered vitamins. I need to spend some serious time and energy in the pantries, everyday pantry is a total mess and I have holes that need to filled from the basement pantry.

The wind has been blowing all day and has really picked up the past few hours, I haven’t listened to any weather but I expect rain will be moving in soon.

Back from picking up commodities and a wm pick up, plus I went in the store to get a supplement for the two things they were out of. One thing they had been out of but got two variations back in stock so I had one with vidalia onions, this being the Sam's Angus beef patties in my pick up. I saw the good supply of the plain ones so I also got a box of those. I think I have four or five of the small boxes in the freezer plus one large one. I get a box everything I go in the store. they are so handy for a fairly quick meal, in addition to the thin cut french fries that taste like macdonalds. I fix those friend for DH and sweet potato fries for me.

Also in the store I got a small spiral sliced ham for Easter. I got a couple of nathans hot dogs for me and two corn dogs for Dh at the deli. They also have a good fried chicken sandwich, just as good as the much more expensive one at mcdonalds. They probably use tyson chicken, so I'll have to rethink getting one in the future.

Commodities was generous, four packages of frozen fish and its not talipa which is horribly unhealthy.. DH hoes a good job of frying fish. Four boxes of keto nut bars. Goody goody, DH doesn't like them but I do. I'll make a huge effort to eat them sparingly. Apples and citrus, not sure if its oranges or grapefruit. I'll hide a couple of apples for me, DH usually eats through them quickly, the man does love fruit. Some canned stuff, some I'll keep and some I'll pass along to Morgan.

All in all from both sources a good grocery haul, haven't done that in a couple of months.

I bought a package of organic carrots, which I usually never get around to doing anything with and they go to the chickens, but I'm going to make an effort to do something with these instead of throwing them out. Grilled in the oven is good and even carrot sticks to snack on. I also bought a couple packages (they are small) of wild picked organic blue berries to have something different for my cottage cheese.

Its raining off and on but not cold.

Well I got a massive surprise when I filed taxes, in a good way. And I'm going to hold on to that until some answers on the purchase of my home are finalized. Because that could cover over half the expected sales taxes and title transfer fees. And if needed, could also cover a chunk of a down payment if I need to go through a bank.

And if it does get spent, it will be a trailer and the remaining galvanized steel beds for the garden. The rest will get tucked away for the above, period. Even if it means that I'm just watching for other properties and saving for that. I know moving after almost 20 years here would be very hard on son, but if that's what has to happen, then that's what has to happen. I'm just praying to be more gently guided to whichever path it needs to be. I'm kind of tired of clue by 4s.

Returning from trip to celebrate grandaughters birthday. Wonderful time with family and even squeezed in a trip to TJ for things I can't get around here. No news or online anything while we were gone.
An oppressive feeling today. Not sure why.
I feel that it will get more dangerous to shop and even dangerous for delivery trucks going to stores.
Some friends brought us some elk meat last week which was nice.
well, I better get some chores done and plan our meals for this week. I think this is our last cold day for this week.

I woke up this morning with a severe migraine. Nothing I've taken has helped so far. It's a rainy and dreary day, too. We had storms blow through overnight.

Judy, you mentioned those frozen beef patties. They've been really low on those at our Walmart, but I always keep a few boxes in the freezer for quick meals (6 patties per box). That's what I plan to use tonight for cheeseburgers. I only buy the plain ones, unless they are out of them. The alternative is the seasoned ones. We haven't tried the Vidalia onion or the bacon/cheese ones.

Fortunately my walmart restocked. I love having them on hand and i got some of the expensive Dave's buns and they are delish. And I've gotten

Grown In Idaho Super Crispy Shoestring Fries, 28 oz (Frozen)

They are delish and taste like mcdonalds. Of course they have nefarious ingredients, but I have to find something that DH likes and he likes these, I cook them in the oven. I don't fix them even weekly though.

I get a box of six of those hamburger patties everytime I shop. Looks like I have several boxes in the freezer. It would be nice to have a freeze dryer for things like these, but way to far out of my price range.

On another topic, I was cleaning (I know, wow) in the bathroom. I had some bottles of flush water against the out side wall and moved them to clean up the floor and to my horror I could just about see daylight along the edge. I need to get some Great Stuff to fill in the crack. We live in a very old mobile home and things like this happen from time to time.

I bought some two gallon water bottles that stack. Maybe I should fill them while I have them out. But I don't want to store that weight where they were.

It looks like some of my multiplying onions are going to seed.

I buy 4 boxes of the patties once a month when I do my monthly shopping run. They are a regular on my shopping list for the month. I not only use them for hamburgers but hamburger steaks with gravy, too. We don't care too much for frozen fries, but I do buy them occasionally to have on hand in the freezer. I like making home fries or roasted potato chunks in the oven. I cut up the potatoes into a bowl, add olive oil, stir them up, and pour out onto a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with a small amount of salt, a shaking of black pepper, and a lot of garlic powder. Bake till lightly browned or fork tender. Yum!

Our house isn't on a concrete slab, so I worry about all the weight of our water and food in the pantry room. We have an old house, too. So far, we haven't noticed any floor sagging.

A note about the bridge collapse today... somewhere on the web....I saw that Domino sugar (cane)..comes into that port.. don't know if other brands of cane sugar come in there also...not sure if we still even grow cane any more
From what I understand... the port will closed on quite a while the bridge even longer....

Our home is a leaky mid 80's mobile home. DH had a mobile home set up and repair business for several years so he has patched things up. I think he finally got the leak stopped over the commode. Ten years ago he paid cash for it for 12,000 including delivery and set up. He bought it in a big town and they had to bring it over 70 miles. So the price was reasonable although he said he back in the day in Illinois he could have gotten it for free. He has added on a lot, front, back and side. Plus he built a screened in porch off one side, but you have to go outside to get in there. At first we used it a lot but since he built a very nice covered front porch we really don't use it any more. However if we had to live without electricity I'd most likely be sleeping out there.

My water is stored in the she shed, which is very well built. I do keep a couple of cases of bottled water in the house for convience.

I buy Imperial cane sugar in the 10 # bag from time to time, we have a good supply. Its now cheaper than the 10# bag of walmarts beet sugar (beets are gmo, bad for your gut). Our regular sugar is what DH puts in his coffee and he doesn't drink it every day, particularly when the weather is warm. I drink it every day, although I've stopped drinking it in the evening.

It's 50 degrees, cloudy, with dry sidewalks, important for my walks!

Thanks for the reminder about sugar. I don't use it daily, but I should get another pound for strawberry season. I'm planning on making around 30 pints of freezer jam, about half of which will be for birthday and graduation presents. I may also bake several strawberry pies, also for gifts, and if you've priced decent pies lately, you'll see why I'm breaking out the pie pans: 3 pies could easily set me back $60. Yikes!

Lots of network problems going on at work. Methinks the hackers are at it, again.

Added: I use only cane sugar! I'm a snob about my jellies and pies.

Our house was built in the 1930's. A simple wood frame house that has a crawl space underneath. Not a concrete slab. I don't have room in my mini barn to store any water, so right in the center of the pantry room, I have 11 cases of 40 bottles each. I know that's a lot of weight, plus all the food storage, but I don't have anywhere else to store it. That's why I keep a watch out for floor sagging.

We have large screen tent that you can set up over a picnic table to keep out bugs. We bought it back when we were doing a lot of camping. If we had to sleep outside, that's what we would set up on our deck in back.

Back in my 20s, we grew some sugar beets and tried to make several batches of sugar. As I recall, it had to crystalize for about two weeks, something like that. It got moldy! I was told that one really needs commercial equipment, and we were broke college students.

Shortly after that, I switched over to using honey as a sweetener as much as possible. I saved the granulated sugar for holiday baking and freezer jams, a habit which has continued up to today.

It's supposed to be a myth, but I think ingesting a little local honey with my tea helps with pollen allergies. In any case, it doesn't hurt!
