It was mid morning when I headed to town today; Middle grandson and I decided to get the lemon shake ups out of the way before we started yard clean up (gotta hydrate, right?
) so we walked up town and picked up 3 lemon and 1 orange shake up, plus a funnel cake topped with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries - YUM! I guess all that sugar gave us energy enough to start working on the giant leaf pile left from last fall. Daughter has two huge maple trees in her front yard and lets the kids and their friends make a giant leaf pile to play in - even middle grandson who is at the "I don't want to look like a geek" stage will play in it. They helped me bag the leaves until I ran out of bags - and the box held 28 large size trash bags. I was wiped out by then anyway, so washed up a bit and then headed to Dollar General to pick up another box of bags for tomorrow - and just happened to pass by the stand where the Water Rescue/Dive Team were selling pulled pork sandwiches; Bless their hearts, they fixed supper tonight as I picked up enough for our house and daughter's. I had to run one grandson to the pool; and another one to his friend's house, so got home about 2:30. Hubby said to just leave the bags in the truck until tomorrow, I did so gratefully; and got cleaned up, then sat down in my chair and didn't wake up until around 5 pm - and am ready to go back to bed
Hubby had already found the sandwiches, so I found a bag of chips to go with them, and called it good. Not sure the weather is going to cooperate with me bagging up the rest of the leaves tomorrow or not, but I guess since they've been there since fall, it isn't going to hurt them to sit another day or two. Grass won't grow under those trees anyway, so at least the leaves keep the mud down a little.
I should have gotten my corn planted in the back garden today but the energy just ran out. Tilling isn't bringing up a lot of moist soil; and the rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow isn't supposed to add up to even an inch so I'll content myself with waiting to plant until after the rain; it beats having to water, and a later crop is still a crop - maybe Hubby will have all the raccoons eradicated by then - got another good sized one in the live trap in the shed today; and reset the trap for tomorrow.
Well, the Ibuprofen is kicking in, so I'm going to head back to bed; take care all; stay safe out there!
