I've been cleaning all weekend. Long story that led to lots of laundry.

Today we got the last of the sand down, then the tarp, and finally got the pool set back up. It is currently filling with water. This should handle the son's spring/cabin fever issues.

This week? I have a blood draw appointment. And then home. Not planning on going out.

I'm working to get the new/changed aspects of the job streamlined so they stop taking up so much time. Boss laughs when I say stuff like that because 1) she knows I mean it. And 2) she knows I will get the time and procedures as tight and flowing as I can. I hate wasted time.

She keeps lining up new clients. She wants 60 total and we are around 2/3 rds of the way there. She figures that will be enough to keep both of us busy and with a good money flow. For me, it's job security for both of us in this economy. A buffer to let us pick up new clients if current clients go under. Although she does generally do a good job of finding productive clients, even if their books are a mess.

I'm cleaning out the fridge and freezer in it for my next grocery shop. I've been making a grocery list for a few things I don't always get. Cottage Cheese is one thing, fresh avaccados. Although I've had issues with them because they seem to take forever to soften and then I forget about them. So I've been getting packages with one servicing cups of guacmole. So tasty and not spicy. A couple of varieties of whole wheat grain pasta. I'm not much of a pasta eater but a little from time to time will give me variety. I've got plenty of quinoa so I don't have to get any more of that.

I was digging around in the 7 cu ft freezer in the mud/sand room. I have a decent supply of frozen vegetables already, but I'm going to get a few more kinds. And I found 6 packages of riced cauliflower so right now I don't need to get any more.

For breakfast I stir fried some asian vegetable blend veggies with some chopped cabbage and scrambled a couple of eggs in that and seasoned with coconut aminos. It was tasty and filling.

I'm still having trouble getting in three meals. I had my first meal about 1:00 pm and looking to have my second around 6:00 pm. Usually I'm just not interested in eating much earlier. For some reason I've cut back on my daily coffee. I was drinking 2-3 cups a day and now I'm hardly finishing one cup, although its a pretty large cup. And some times I get a cup before bed, its not keeping me awake.

Not really anything to do with prepping, but more like house and property maintenance. Cary is spraying the cedar siding on our house (I don't know the name of the stuff), cause boring bees are eating it. He's also spraying round-up along our property fence line. I think he plans to termite the house, once he's finished with all of that. No rain, today, so it's a good day to get all that done. Saturday, he put out grub and insect killer all over the yard, plus fertilizer. It's safe for pets.

For me, it's just another day of household chores. I made up a meatloaf for the crockpot this morning, and it's now cooking for supper tonight. We'll have oven roasted potatoes and a garden salad to go with it.

My Blair order came last evening, and all the pants and capris are a perfect fit! They all have a drawstring waist, so weight gain or loss won't matter much.

Today is commodity pick up day. And I have my grocery list written out in case my wm app won't work in the store. I tried to do a pick up for today, but somehow it would not work, so I'll get the stuff myself. I could cut the list shorter because I have most of what I need anyway. Although I don't have cottage cheese and I'm out of yogurt. I do want to get some Feta, I use to use it quite a bit but got out of the habit. I need some fresh salad greens, but I'm only going to get a small container because I don't usually use it all up.

While I have chicken in the freezer, I want to get a package of boneless skinless thighs. I'm going to get the Perdue brand, its seems to be the cleanest brand. Of course its all gone up in price. And one thing I've never tried is Avaccado Oil Mayo. I don't use mayo very often. I always favored Blue Plate brand because it was made in New orleans, but they sold out and not only is it no longer made in New Orleans, but now they've changed the label. I doubt I'll ever buy it again.

I started playing around with the golo plan a week ago, but didn't the the packet until Friday. There was only one day that I ate differently, but I've lost 5 pounds. That leaves 35 or so to go. When I lost 40 pounds 10 years ago it did not show badly in my face, but now I'm 10 years older so no telling what will happen. At 76 I guess I shouldn't be concerned about it but I still have some vanity left.

All in all I'm feeling better, but I am having sinus headaches every day which is requiring me to take sinus meds, some times twice a day. Oh well.

Good luck with your diet, Judy! I'm only trying to lose 10 pounds. I've lost 3, but now, seems like I'm stuck. I'm eating more green salads with all our meals, and more fresh fruit and yogurt during the day for breakfast and lunch. I'm not following any diet other than reducing carbs and sweets. Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups have been my weakness and cause of all the weight gain. I ate a handful with my lunch every day.........:shk:

I started cutting out most sweets awhile back, DH keeps his hidden and I stopped looking for it. When I was living alone I never kept sweets and chips in the house, so I was not a big eater of them. I need to lose at least 40 pounds and maybe another 10. I'm blessed that the golo food plan turns out to be my favorite way of eating. No packaged or processed foods at all and that works for me. I really don't eat that much in the way of salads, they are good and I could go for a good salad.

I am buying greens today and will make myself a nice big salad, I have to check out the golo salad dressings, no bottled dressings, only from their recipes.

WEIGHT, WEIGHT, WEIGHT........yep, me too. I gained 30 lbs while caring for my dh 3 yrs... very sedentary and not healthy...but it's hard to lose now... I'm eating more salads with protein but sometimes I just want carbs!!

Can't exercise much...my musculo-skeletal issues worsen if I do regular exercises....frankly I'm wary of going back to the pool, though that's the best for me. I think there are too many variables with lots of people in the soup....keep on keeping on!

I did my big grocery shop and by the time I got to the check out (I usually do self check, but just could not) I felt like I was going to pass out. The cashier was so nice, she helped get the stuff out of the cart. I started feeling worse and a couple more walmart folks came, they asked me if I wanted to sit down on the floor and I said yes. The cashier was fanning me, it help, and they called 911. They came and checked my vitals and all was well, I think they decided that I got over heated. One lady went out to the parking lot to get DH, he always parks close. They helped me up, I refused to got to ER. I was able to walk out just fine, but DH put the stuff in the truck.

I guess my days of doing a big grocery shop are over. I'll just have to do pick up.

I forgot my phone and grocery list in the truck so I had to wing it. I looked at my list later and only forgot a couple of things.

I'm not sure what all we got in commodities, but one thing was chicken leg quarters. I've got one package ready to go in the oven.

Oh no, Judy! I'm glad you're ok! Have you ever had your blood sugar checked? When Cary's drops too low, he almost passes out, too. It usually happens to him when he's doing something strenuous without eating. Not saying that's you. It was just a thought that came to my mind.

We can no longer do all day shopping runs, either. We used to make a day of it, and call it our "Date Day', but we just can't do it anymore.

My crockpot meatloaf was good, but this time, it broke half into while it was cooking. Didn't change the taste, though.

This is why I do our grocery shopping online and have it delivered, and I'm so thankful for it! My husband just can't do it anymore. If we do go in the store, it's to get fresh produce or meat, but those times are few and far between.

I'm praying for you, Judy!

The EMT's check my blood sugar and it was fine and they checked my BP and it was fine. All this while I'm sitting on the floor in walmart. Every one was so nice, the walmart employees could not have been nicer or more kind.

We live too far out to get groceries delivered, but I can still do pick up. Or if I do go in the store I will make sure its quick.

I'm praying for you, too, Judy. These weak and passing out spells are occurring way too often. I hope your VA doctors can find the problem soon.

If it's not raining by this afternoon, we're planting our gardens. It's only 49 degrees right now but will warm into the 70's by this afternoon with a slight chance of rain. Cary doesn't have the large garden tilled up, yet, so the green beans, squash, and cukes will wait a bit longer, like next week, unless he decides to get it tilled up this afternoon. Rain coming in tomorrow through Sunday!

I've had a slight issue with something like this for years. I think my blood sugar took a nose dive and by the time the EMT checked it it was normal. I didn't eat before we went to pick up commodities, which took longer than usual. And then we went to walmart and I was in there for a good while, it got to be about 3:00 pm. My bp was also fine. I'll mention it to my PCP but I doubt it will go any further than that. This happened to me one time when I was at the VA and I got carted off to ER. They stabilized me and sent me on my way.

If for some reason this keeps happening I'll make an issue of it at the VA, but if it doesn't then I want. DH said face it she's old, which I am.

Trying to get three meals in today. So for breakfast I had 1/2 cup of 4% cottage, and 1/2 c. trail mix with almonds, cashews and a few cranberries, and to complete my 1/2 c of fruit I had a 1/2 of a small banana. Quick, easy and completely full filling. Since I bought a big container of salad greens I'm thinking a big salad, to include one can of tuna and some grape tomatoes. There are several homemade salad dressings to choose from but I think for easy I'll go with the GOLO salad dressing, consisting of 1 c water. 1/2 c apple cider vinegar, 1 T garlic salt and 1/4 c olive oil. 3 T. are a serving. I did buy some Avacado oil yesterday and I may use that instead of the olive oil.

Went to see the vampires today so that the bloodwork will be back in time for dr appt next week. Stopped by Costco for rotisserie for dinner. Ended up with cheese, bread, and a flat of Sparkling Ice as well. They have a really good price on those. I typically splurge on a dozen, once a month. I may just start stopping in to grab their flat once a month. It's 24, in flavors son and I like, for $16.

Then to the St Vincent thrift where I found DVT massagers for the lower legs. I'm hoping that they will help with the locked calf muscles. And when I asked them to verify that they worked, because that was a lot of money for something that might not work, the gentleman tested them and then gave me a lower price on them. (They do work.) And some yard to make a few more headbands on the loom. And a light wakeup alarm - one of those that increases light gradually to wake you up. Because I respond better to that type of wakeup than to an alarm blaring.

Now it's back to work, after we eat lunch.

Hi everyone! We’re having internet issues with Hughes and although I’m using the hotspot on my cell phone through verizon, it’s not working very well either. Hughes is supposed to send someone out to check on what’s going on later this week. Verizon used the excuse that the issue with them is a new tower is going in and they have to turn off the other towers around while they’re doing whatever is being done to the new tower. I think it’s bs. Anyway…

I canned 13 pints and 1 half-pint of turkey breast yesterday. Glad to have those out of the freezer and in jars on the shelf. I’m working on getting at least one of the medium size chest freezers emptied that I’d like to unplug but I’ll also be happy to just get most everything out so I can get the freezers better organized.

Better post before I lose connection.

Judy~Prayers up that your feeling/doing better.

I'm actually grateful I didn't get the vegetables in the ground. I would have lost most of them over the last two nights. Currently they reside in my living room. I will put them back on the porch tomorrow morning.

I'm pretty sure there will be no more frost here. It's just all the rain. If we don't get our tomatoes and peppers in the ground soon enough to have a good established root system before the scalding summer temps hit, they will be lost. Besides, we're running about 20-25 degrees colder than what is average for this time of year.

I served Dh chicken salad on a bed of lettuce. After that I didn't feel like having a salad myself. I had half of a package of riced cauliflower left from last night and I added a package of frozen zucchini blind in a little coconut oil and added some coconut aminos and then added some of the chicken we cooked today. It was very filling and I had a very small amount of yogurt after that. I'm stuffed and so is DH. I also did not get that salad dressing made, tomorrow is another day.

Sherree I don't think we've had quite as much rain as you have. DH got 20 tomato plants in the ground about 10 days ago. A couple of them didn't make it but the others are looking good. I've not been able to find any grape tomato plants yet. Still looking around for them.

I just finished looking at our 7 day weather forecast. Rain today and Thursday. Friday and Saturday, there is no rain (as of right now, but things can change). We have that many tomatoes, plus 8 bell pepper plants to get out in the raised beds. We're shooting for Saturday to be planting day. I've decided to plant squash in one raised bed, but the rest goes in the big garden. I don't know when that one will get tilled much less planted. It's for cukes and green beans. The trellises will go up for those, once it gets tilled up and rowed.

I can't remember when the last time was that we've had so much rain all winter and now spring. Temps are running well below normal here, too. We had frost advisories out for 2 nights in a row in the last couple of days. I think we're headed into a warming trend, though. Upper 70's and low 50's at night.

Actually I do remember having alot of winter and early spring rain and then nothing, a long hot summer. Its overcast and rainy here today, high supposed to be 80, but very cool right now. A few days ago DH was going to take all the wood he had in the house out to the barn, but then it turned cold at night and in the early mornings.

We've not really planted anything but the tomatoes, neither of us like peppers of any kind. We might try squash and zucchini, but often have little luck with either of them. Its our sandy soil. My great grandmother had trouble here too with a garden.

Saturday I got 3 of the extra roosters butchered. 3 seems to be about my limit anymore. They have been chilling in the shop fridge till this morning. They are cooking in some water just till I can debone them. Then I will cook the bones longer to make a good broth. Friday will be canning day.

Monday was hubby's follow up with the Urologist in Ft. Smith. He doesn't go back for 6 months. They gave him a diet sheet with foods to avoid. She also told him some things that may help, like lemonade. We were in and out before his official appointment time. We arrived early and they were moving along.

After his appointment, he wanted to go to some stores that had reloaded supplies. He found a few things he has been looking for. Things in that department are getting a little easier to find. We went to A to Z at Alma too. He went to the hardware section and I went to the gifts and such. I was looking for silk flowers for decoration. I swear the price is double what they were last year or almost double. I didn't buy much. But I did run into a couple from my neighborhood in my home town. They were buying flowers too. It was good to see them. It kind of made me homesick. I have been gone for over 30 years, but I still miss it. I will see them again at decoration.

We bought me another pair of boots that I wear all the time. I had gotten out my new pair last week and moved my others to the work boot category. I had to throw away the oldest work boots. They had come apart along the sole.

We went to town yesterday to get parts hubby needed. He is repairing the old baler. Not sure if we will keep it for a spare or sell it. We also stopped at the Honda shop for a part to repair my 4 wheeler parking break. While there I found a gun rack that mounts on the 4 wheeler rack. It will make carrying my rifle, garden hoe, fishing pole, etc much easier.

Hubby needed to go into Lowes for some bolts. I went to the plants while he was doing his thing. I found 5 six packs of flowers marked down to $1 a package. I was watered them when we got home and set them out to get last night's rain. This morning you can't even tell that they were on the "almost dead" plant rack. Monday on our way home we stopped at a plant nursery in the next town from us and I bought a couple of lantanas in different colors, a rose, lemon balm, and another blueberry. Also my pepper and tomato seed I started are coming up in my green house.

We have added a little to the pantry. Mostly stuff we use a lot. Prices seem to be going up again. I swear I have had sticker shock all over again.

Take care everyone and keep busy as you are able. Small steps add up over time.

I got about a pint of beautiful chicken broth from the leg quarters I baked yesterday. I haven't used it yet though. I also need to vacuum seal some of the chicken that DH deboned yesterday.

I stopped taking DE a little while back, giving myself a break, but I think I need to restart it. My energy level is just about nil. I don't feel bad, just dragging myself around. Its not what I've been eating because what I'm eating is good wholesome food, and I'm getting plenty of food.

Tonight is Church night and food is served. Of course I can't eat any of it. And so far they have not said what is being served.

For my first meal, at about noon, I had two eggs with sauteed tomatoes, and green onions. One slice of ezekiel bread with a tiny amount of butter and avacado. And for the meal I may take to church is that big salad I was going to have yesterday, with tuna, tomatoes, sliced red onion, 1/4 cup of chick peas, and one boiled egg, with a golo salad dressings.

Or I may have the salad before we go and eat a third, very small meal later after church. And just have coffee at church like I did last week and I did fine.

Both watermelons and cantaloupe grow best in sandy soil with some top soil added.

Well, today was the first day I actually worked in the garden. I knew it was gonna be rough, but OOOOOUUUUCH!!!

Going from a Winter and cold Spring couch potato, to hanging upside down, between legs spread FAAAARRR apart is not the best way to break into more activity!! I maintained this stance for about 90 minutes as I cleared weeds and small stuff from the soil. But OHHHHHH!! When I stood up!!! And then, trying to walk, was SIGNIFICANTLY painful!! It is supposed to rain for the next 2-3 days, so I will have time to recover and then go out and DO IT AGAIN!!

Oh well, I guess it is good for me, but I sure did walk funny after all that!!

DH, who is a master gardener, has tried watermelons and cantaloupe and they did just about nothing. By the time one of them got almost large enough to have a small melon, it was rotten on the bottom. so no luck with them either.

Church was good. I took my large salad. I put several yummy things in it besides the spring mix of greens. Tomatoes, cut small, one boiled egg, 3 oz of tuna, asparagus (jared, not fresh), 1/4 cup chick peas, about the same of mandarin oranges (they add so much flavor to a salad), red onion sliced very thin. I used about two T of skinny girl dressing and a nice dollop of balsamic vinegar. I shook it up and chilled it before we went to church. It was delicious and totally filling.

Ultimately only two meals today. Very satisfied and full as a tick. DH had a nice chicken salad sandwich with cole slow and at church he had roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, with some kind of dessert. I didn't even look, I was not tempted. When I'm eating healthy most desserts don't even look good to me.

I'm not sure I've mentioned, forgive me if I have, now that I'm cooking good healthy meals for my self, I'm also cooking good meals for DH, just not the same foods.

There was a book sale here this week and yesterday was the last day, so everything was ten cents. Since you have to park sort of far away, I could only buy what I could carry and that turned out to be 18 books in one large tote. Mainly history books, a couple of cook books, and a few fiction books. It was only $1.80, but I gave them a five and told them to keep the change for their literacy program.

Well, it's storming and raining here, today. I have absolutely nothing to do, so I'm spending the day cooking. I hope to be canning, tomorrow, so I'm getting enough cooked today to have leftovers tomorrow night.

I'm making Cary a coconut pecan cake. I've already got boneless chicken breasts wrapped in bacon marinating in the fridge ready to go in the oven, tonight. Along with that, I'll be making a big pot of homemade mac & cheese, a pot of slow cooked lima beans, and steamed and buttered Brussel sprouts, with yeast rolls. I'm all out of salad fixings, so I'm subbing with Brussel sprouts for myself.

My newest book order came in, so I've got several new books to read. All romance. Yep, I'm a romantic, LOL.

Cary just got a call from the Toyota dealership, the salesman that we're working with, letting us know that our new vehicle is still scheduled to arrive May 10th. We're going to Big town May 3rd for my doctor's appointment, so Cary told him we would drop by and pay up and get all the paperwork started. When the vehicle arrives on the truck at the car lot, it will be ours. The salesman is anxious for us to buy, cause he wants my car that we're trading in for his own daughter. It's a 2010 Nissan Maxima with only 66,000 miles on it, and is still like new, so we're getting a good price for it as a trade in. Double what Cary was expecting.

We're so excited!

That's AWESOME! :)

I'm going to have to learn to drive all over again, LOL. I don't drive Cary's Jeep, so I'll have to learn how to drive a vehicle that is up off the ground. My Maxima sits low to the ground, and it's hard for me to get in and out of. That's one reason for a new one. We're both having difficulties. The new RAV4 XLE has a lot of bells and whistles that I'm not used to, too, but will enjoy having. I thought my Maxima was loaded, but this one is awesome.

Happy Dance for the news on your new car Sherree.

We had rain during the night and early morning but now its gone, kind of over cast, but not too bad. The goats are out, they don't like rain, but some of them could use a bath.

I did well with my salad last night, not hungry later, which is always a good thing.

There are two face book pages for golo, one that is the offical page and one that is not. Someone posted on the unofficial page this morning that she is counting calories to make sure she is not eating too many. I've always been a calorie counter so I've decided to do the same. I was busy doing something else and didn't want to cook, so I made myself another salad, although not so large. I put several goodies in it but it only came to about 300 calories I ate too late to really have three meals today, having three is not getting any easier, I'm just not hungry first thing in the morning, not only not hungry but don't want to eat.

I haven't been doing DE for at least two weeks, maybe more, so I started back this morning.

I've never eaten 3 meals a day. I learned from a good friend that Cary worked with, who is a health guru, that if you eat 5 small meals a day, you'll lose weight, depending on what you eat, of course (low carb, no sweets, and high protein). I'm having 3 meals a day and 2 snacks, between breakfast and lunch and another one between lunch and supper. Never, ever eat anything after 4pm. My diet sure keeps me full. For breakfast, which is the hardest for me, since I never eat breakfast, is a small banana or a small tub of yogurt. Something light. My snacks are sugar free jello with fruit, sugar free jello pudding, a handful of finely chopped nuts, or a piece of fruit. I choose what each will be each time. It's working for me, but it's hard at supper time watching Cary eat all the food I can't have, and I still have a tendency to over fill my plate.
