UNEX Walmart observations

hadn’t been in a month or so. Sunday fought the crowds.
the thing that made me pause was the side of the food section had pallets and pallets of mainly bottled water . It forced basically only one cart near the end caps of the metal shelves isles and 1 cart near the lunchmeat/ bacon / cheese. Not all bottled water but 90%.
so is it conditioning for another viral BS storm
Or is there an event coming?
Eldest son in Dfw area has the same thing
Younger boy sees the same at his store in the last 2 weeks.
no way it’s for the night stockers. Too much

trying to poison people with micro plastics in the water . . . or is it really even water?

Nothing unreal exists
Not sure about what you're seeing at Walmart, but word in the wind is that they are definitely going to attempt to mask us, vaccinate us and try again with the digital id thing again this Fall/Winter. All that in addition to their developing plan for food shortages.

Must be very area specific. I live in the metroplex and the local walmarts in my area are not doing this.

Taking cover
Well here in my location I was going through the food section where they have spaces for pallets of 4lb and 10lb bage of sugar.

They were all EMPTY. No regular to be found.

Also noted the the soda asile was now just one side and the other side was piled high with water. Granted we have had a lot of flooding around here but……

A lot of it too is supply chain is fooked. bottled water may be the ONLY thing they have no issues getting. This may be more of a fact of hiding things AND having standing inventory when things get worse.

I get my gatorade from walmart typically and they are sold ou of that half the time and the ramen noodles are typically sold out too as folks don't know how to cook.

My focus now is on stuff that stores longer with a longer shelf life. Bread, tortillas, meats are getting more difficult to use up before they go bad due to transport issues.

Plus the canola oil is used in most things as it is a natural insecticide.

Walmart contracts are fixing to reset in a few months as well and they are having to adjust things significantly.

They are regretting using china as a main supplier. The lock downs are ruining their ability to get consistent inventory supplies...

Many family and friends work at Wal-Mart distribution center in Ottawa Kansas. All shifts have been & will continue to be sent home early due to lack of merchandise. We are being told it's also a lack of trailers on both ends nation wide also due to lack of repair parts.
Family has worked there for years and have NEVER seen any of this before. As everyone here continues to say...better get it now it won't be there later.

The Walmart Auto Service Center in Paris, Texas, is closed due to lack of employees to man the service center. It takes a lot more experience and smarts to work in the service center than to move stock and stock shelves.

There are "HELP WANTED" signs at most stores from DFW thru Paris and into SE Okieland. I still see lots of younger adults just walking around and sitting on porches doing nothing.

Just what will these adults do when the EBT cards stop working and there is not food in the stores?

Texican....

My store has 9 conex storage units for all the inventory. Game plan is as we empty them they will start to fill them with Christmas. We now have 3 people who do nothing but price changes and we used to get so much mark down money every month to get rid of the stuff nobody likes till it’s a lot cheaper. They say corporate has dried up all mark down money. So we really have to get creative. Also if it feels warmer it is they keep raising the temperature we can set air to.

This is mainly what pushed the CDC to revisit their covid testing and policies. Their policies are causing this and the heat from businesses will burn them.

Update...All but skeleton crew sent home today before lunch break at Ottawa Kansas distribution center due to lack of incoming merchandise. Emloyees told this will continue for the foreseeable future....no time frame estimate for return to normal operations.
If you need it...get it.

I cannot report about any big stores but I noticed at both of the grocery stores in our local town that all the end caps were displayed to look full but only had single items. So if a person bought one there was then a hole. Some of the regular shelves were faced the same way. So overall inventory is way down.

I returned to work last night after 14 days quarantine with the rona

I work at the big box retail ..I had 1 cashier and 1 self check out last night.

I wish customers would understand we are humans we get covid also..but whine and complain that we have no staff..the staff are sick. The staff we do have are busting their butts to service as they can. I myself still drained and stuffed up coughing hurt like a son of crap covered customer service and self check out area( sco when they needed their breaks.)

There is nothing I can do when you have 5 to 6 of dedicated staff out sick. Every department in our store are down staff.

With an average of 20 to 1 of baby boomers to staff and baby boomers now dont want to work..but they can sure grumble a lot about they deserve better...

With this being said...humanity needs to remain intact be kind at any place short staffed. I do not ask or pray that no staff not show up to piss people off.

Tonight I have yet again 1 cashier and 1 self check out(thats if they dont call in) and no staff to call in and cover..but bonus I do have customer service.

If this is how it is now..imagine when the shelves are even more empty...even less staff and prices are tripled. This ride has just started and its going to get worse instead of better

While I was at Walmart getting my pickup order put in my car, the fellow was telling me how a big boss had been in and was talking about not only tomato, corn and potato crops failing but also soybeans. I was able to get everything I ordered even if the can sizes were crazy on the substitutions; at least the total ounces came out. Also stopped at local Co-op and that poor gal is getting really worried. Business is very slow she said and she is having trouble keeping stuff in stock ( none of either dog food we use). She also cannot understand the people coming in to buy fancy (read expensive) lawn ornaments when they should be getting food. Fortunately I was able to get the dog food elsewhere but I still cannot believe how much it all cost yesterday. I am worried about my neighbors who are broke and having troubles financially - that would be the same one who voted democrat so her illegal hubby would become legal under biden….bought some extra rice and beans in case I have to do something there since the kid is my grandson’s best friend.

I appreciate that post. I will try to be more considerate to store personnel. Thanks.

Many things have changed at my local WalMart, this year. The store has largely remained extremely well stocked, and cleverly overstocked with some products. This is a college town, so summertime will have a natural shortage of workers. Aisles are filled with pallets, there likely being 10 pickers for curbside pickup for each shelf stocker.

The biggest change is the makeup of the customers. My guess is that this city is about 85% white, a majority being over-educated middle to upper middle class people. Previously, I would have guessed that 2 out of 3 shoppers were those types of people. This year, perhaps 20% of shoppers appear to be white and middle class. Another 20% look like whites out of the movie Deliverance. The other 60% are minorities, about half who look like they are native born, and the other half like they just arrived. The good thing is that everyone is basically orderly and polite.

I'm wondering if many of these new shoppers are from the big city about 20 miles away. That city has become minorities as a majority, with a WalMart that is a filthy unorganized mess. There are 5 WalMart stores in the area, and this local one is the smoothest running, with almost no shortages. Therefore, the people in the surrounding area might be coming here.

Especially like you thinking of your neighbors. Good spirit, Magnetic.
