1984 Volvo. Suddenly when I use my left turn signal, my battery and brake light comes on and I hear this SSSSSS noise. When I turn off the signal, everything stops. Seems to have started a day after a light rain. Is this dangerous as in starting a car fire? Thanks for any info.

No, but it will burn up your electrical. system.

I'd bet you have water in one of your turn signal lights or moisture caused corrosion resulting in a short

YOu'll just have to look at them alll individually and look for a n anomoly.

IF that is not the case, you've got a short in your wiring --probably in the sterring column itself

Hello Knickgnat, The '84 Volvo has a common problen with a deteriorating wiring harness. There is alot of info about it (try googling "wiring harness" + volvo + '84 + problems) This website http://www.brickboard.com has good Volvo info. Mentioned here: https://secure.brickboard.com/ARCHIVES/1998JAN/7677.shtml I hope this helps. (edited to add the part of the url that did not post completely---->) /ARCHIVES/1998JAN/7677.shtml If this doesn't work please note that I got the link from google.

Your welcome pathfinder! two other sources I use for vehicle info are http://www.alldata.com where you can click the TSB (<i>Technical Service Bulletin</i>) and recall link on most any auto or truck.<br> When I look to buy a used car, I check out these places first to find out about any inherent problems a particular make and model has. I've never paid to read the complete bulletin as the list with summary tells alot.<br>
I also use http://www.epinions.com and read owners experience with most products.
http://www.carfax.com is another good one.<br>
