C'mon...this is a joke...don't be taken in.
They are just that good. It's been the focus of their whole life up until the time they hit the big-time college scene or NFL. Big, strong hands, superior hand-eye coordination, raw talent honed to perfection. Thousands of hours spent between that QB and that receiver.

Well beyond the average person's ability or even comprehension - yes.
Magnetic gloves?
No.

I tend to agree. If magnetic gloves were being used and helped to that degree, I would expect the average bench warmer to be making grabs he never used to make.

Besides, the mechanics of many of these catches rely not only on making sure balls stay in the hand, but also on raw speed, perfect timing of jumps and leaps, superior eye-hand coordination. Things a magnet will not give you.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Gloves add a definite amount of grip to the ball. Sticky, if you will, without residue. They enhance one's ability's greatly, and due this, the records of old cannot compare to today's, and truly need their own category. It's like the size and design of today's baseball glove compared to one of the thirty's......

Magnets, I'm not so sure of...

Yep... and the interesting thing is the trend has trickleddown to the point where you can see those amazing one handed catches at the high school level... young men spend hours and hours trying to perfect that skill.

If the magnet theory was correct, we'd see a lot fewer of the "oops" plays where the ball slides right through BOTH hands of the receiver!

Unless, of course, you think they've got an electromagnet in their gloves they operate with Alexa at the last moment or something!

Chuck's point is valid as well... some of these men are HUGE, with proportionally sized hands. Some of them can palm a basketball easily, much less a football, which is designed for it.

I suppose the guys making those catches bare handed have implanted magnets?

In a world filled with lies, illusions, fraud, and chicanery, people know they’re being lied to…they just wanna know how the con works…this supplies an easy answer!

The "oops" plays are not from switching off electromagnets. Alexa sends a signal to pores in the glove's surface to ooze out some mayo.

On a serious note, I played a lot of touch football back in the day. For me, it was fairly easy to catch with one hand. First off, if anyone has actually handled a real Wilson NFL football, they are much easier to catch (and throw) than anything else.

Skills and practice? Not for me. I immediately could catch one handed, the first time I tried. I didn't know that I could. From there on, it was total confidence that I could, more than anything else.

It's not so much the catching it one handed... it's catching it one handed while falling backwards after leaping 3 feet into the air, with two big guys holding onto your legs!

I'm impressed. Managing to squeeze some mayo into this thread is not an easy feat...

I'm nowhere close to the athletic level of running as fast, jumping as high, etc...of those players. But jumping 18", being yanked backwards, having one arm pulled away (the reason for the one handed catch), all in a pouring rain, I'd stack up my pure catching ability with an NFL player. All with no gloves. After catching one handed many times, I then learned how to catch only the pointed end of the ball with one hand, much more difficult.

Seriously?!? Since when is Pig Skin magnetic? And.....if there is some sort of "magnetic" glove/football thing going on. It's really simple: DON'T ALLOW GLOVES in the sport. If you can't play "bare handed" then....oh well. That's just part of the game.

They don't allow "Spit Balls" in baseball......no gloves in Football. Easy-Peazy. Oh, and if you don't want head injuries - take away helmets. When you ARMOR up you're not afraid of crashing into someone.

I'm with ShadowMan. Where is the metal in the football? It would have to be over the entire surface pf the ball since there is no way to know which part of the ball will be contacted at the moment of the catch. Additionally, metal would add a bit of weight to the ball. The quarterbacks would then be affected.

Greetings from near tropical NYC!
Or the balls are slightly deflated increasing the "grip" of the catcher?

This is NOT beyond Belichick. Or at least it wasn't.

Dobbin
True, but not just Belichick. We had a company day at an NFL stadium, not the Patriots' stadium. We went out on the field and had some football drills. We used some of the home team's footballs for throwing drills.

What wonderful soft luxurious little pillows they were. Not only was the surface like a comfy leather sofa (the "distressed" surface which is known) but the ball was pretty soft. I was never comfortable throwing or catching a football, until those. With those it seemed pretty doable, my fingers could cause the ball to rotate in a spiral, and I threw farther than I ever had before.

So yeah I believe Tom Brady used soft footballs, but so did lots of other QB's and teams. Hence, "no comment" from any of them. But Aaron Rodgers is known to prefer very hard footballs, due to his throwing style, so that's surely what he gets.

for all the people saying "wheres the metal on the ball"

1. must not have watched the video where it shows a guy METICULOUSLY wrapping the insert of the ball with copper wire and micro chip.

2. Doesn't need to be much metal. it's an ELECTRONIC magnet - same as in the glove (in theory..I don't believe the article on the premise WHO would be in on it? It's the GAME ball which ever since bradygate has been tightly controlled. BOTH teams use it.. I am sure there are regulators or somebody in charge of BALL SECURITY or coming up with the ball.. if they are in on it it's a major internal cheat-which is unlikely.. picking of winners and losers...)

This is totally fluff. Yes the technology is there and looks like it's being used in social effects, amateur sports, etc.. but is not on the pro level unless ALL the teams/ players league is in on it, and then.. why? to enhance the game or cheat/rig and betting? Then why would everyone be in on it? To enhance the game- everyone gets them?... nah. Just a filler, got a lot of clicks and looks and likes and unfortunately clicks beats truth all day long.

We gotta stop clicking on BS.

It's like Jerry springer. He tried for years to be a great newsman. Didn't do great. Tried some trailer trash. Sold like hot cakes. If it bleeds it leads, and our SOCIAL brains are WIRED for drama (being apprised of political situations abreast, particularly in palace affairs or small tribes/clans clashes- could keep you alive.) - We are ripe for the taking on these fronts. I've been weening myself off of faceborg. Every click makes them money. I dropped CNN{spit} in 2016 and amazon{spit} shortly after. So hard to get off of the usefulness of FB for keeping up on distant friends and families. Anyways. Starve the beast.

When I saw the drinking brake fluid challenge on Tik Tok, I realized they went too far and it was time for them to stop.

What level of STUPID are we breeding out there?!?!?

I used to think the reason we have so many STUPID people in the world was because we didn't have enough LIONS, TIGERS and BEARS roaming the wastelands of the big cities, eating the stupid ones. I guess Tic Tok is making up for that. Geeeeeezzzzzzzz. What dumbarses!!

I didnt watch the vid because "F" the NFL but even the slightest advantage is better than none...so even if the magnets dont exactly "grab" the ball directly, they may just give the player that much more they might have needed, to make the play.
