A viral (Video here>) video shows the terrifying moment that an SUV rolled over during a stunt attempt in Colorado, crushing five teenagers who were hanging out of its windows.

The 19-year-old driver, Marisol Wentling, was arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department for investigation on two counts of vehicular assault. Police said she was doing donuts, or driving in tight circles, in a shopping mall parking lot Saturday night when the vehicle rolled over.

The five victims were all under the age of 18 and were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, a department spokesperson said, adding that the victims had met Wentling in the parking lot to join in the stunts.

Three of the injured are in critical condition and two have been released from the hospital, police said. The incident remains under investigation.

BFC- This 'accident' was no accident, it was criminal in my opinion. It was sheer stupidity on a grand scale. I can't help but want to slap the crap out of that driver. I can't believe that there wasn't a fatality.

That was really stupid.

Was going to say I/we did donuts all the time as stupid dumb ****s. And once I hit a pot hole(ice and snow) in the school parking lot and flipped the old dodge demon on its side.

But those idiots where doing donuts while hanging out of the SUV. Guess the fact I had already rolled a old wagoner and a VW bug, had my seat belt on, and only one other person saw it. A friend walking out to ditch that period with me, helped push it back on it wheels. And we got away with it! :D

Mine only had a slant 6 in it. Can't believe the prices they get for those now...

I saw this clip yesterday when it wasn't known if there were any fatalities.

Unfortunately when I see something like this, especially now that cameras are everywhere, it's even worse for my busy brain. I can see the video once and then my brain starts looking at the dynamics of the accident, how many were exposed to the roll, how many were slammed down into the hangers on inside the vehicle, how many were there total, how many were moved?

I can have one bystander hand me that information. Perhaps that's why there aren't any fatalities? Everyone from the start knew the who, what, when, where, why doesn't matter in medical, how, and how many. All medical personnel could prepare.

Not a bad night of work for those who did the job that night! Come out of that without a fatality? Yeah, everyone's got their shit squared.

I rolled over twice in my life (so far). Once in a 1966 CJ5 in 1971. Slid off road in heavy snow on the way to a hunting camp. Rolled one full time and ended back up on the wheels. The factory rollbar saved me. Jeep started back up and I continued to drive to the camp. It was pretty bent up but still drove OK. Me -Only minor scrapes.
2nd time was in 1978 in a Chevy Chevette. Winter again - Fire plug was leaking across a road and water froze. Rolled into a creek off the road. Only inches deep. This time ended up in the hospital overnight. Home the next day - Sore but nothing wrong.
I kept my Guardian Angel busy that decade. Last accident I had. :D

5 people crushed after SUV tips over while doing donuts at Colorado Springs shopping center

Published: Dec. 17, 2023 at 10:23 AM PST|Updated: 10 hours ago

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Several people were crushed when a driver lost control and flipped their vehicle while doing donuts in a parking lot.

The horrific crash happened Saturday night at a strip mall at the corner of South Circle and Monterey in southeast Colorado Springs.

In video circulating on social media, which 11 News has obtained but is choosing not to show, a crowd can be seen watching an SUV circle the lot while the passengers dangled out of windows.

The video shows the driver putting the SUV in reverse and begin another donut maneuver. Seconds later, while balancing on just its passenger-side tires, the SUV can be seen tipping over, then continuing to roll.
“The vehicle rolled over and onto the individuals who were hanging out the windows,” police said.
Bystanders can then be seen rushing to the vehicle and attempting to help the occupants.

Police got the 911 call just after 10:15 p.m. They found five people at the scene with life-threatening injuries. All were transported to the hospital, and there has been no update on their conditions from officials as of Monday morning. 11 News has reached out to the police department for more information.

Based on the investigation so far, police say they believe the crowd met at the strip mall specifically to do donuts in the parking lot. The alleged driver of the SUV, who did not sustain serious injuries, was arrested for reckless driving. She has been identified by CSPD as Marisol Wentling. She remained in jail as of Sunday afternoon, but records Monday morning indicate she has since bonded out.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to call CSPD right away at 719-444-7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP.

As Wentling circled the lot, she lost control of the car and it tipped over, crushing the five people who were sitting in the windows, CSPD said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, two of the injured people had been released from the hospital. Three were still considered in critical condition, but stable, police said.

Only once for me, we rolled a VW rail buggy in the early 70's. It was a full cage, so not so much as a scrape.

With both parents working today, kids are typically inadequately monitored and mostly unsupervised, when school is out.
Paired with post-school friends "peer pressure", this invertibly leads to "bad behaviors" and increased juvenile delinquency. They are constantly encouraged to just have fun and "out extreme" each other. The concept of responsibility and common sense is ignored or regarded as not being fun.

As younger people seem to like extremes, so maybe it's time to bring back the old Highway safety films (updated, of course! and much more extreme) like Signal 30, Mechanized Death (1961), Wheels Of Tragedy (1963) and Highway of Agony (1969). I still remember them and the impact they had on me, along with a few of my buddies ending up in similar vehicular fates.

These safety films, like Civil Defense, were poo-pooed by the intellectuals that annual teenage highway deaths were still going up. This has nothing to do with the fact that the number of teenage drivers were going up dramatically i.e. Baby Boom, the number of cars on the road was dramatically increasing, driving while under alcohol and drug use was increasing, etc., etc., etc!

Trying to discuss safety, taking responsibility for yourself and using common sense when performing tasks, will cause people, regardless of age, to tune out your message almost immediately. They see no risk or downside of their actions or inaction's. It's almost like an addictive drug. The more you do, the deeper you sink in your moral and ethical values.

It has always been the primary responsibility(and honor) of the parents to set the example of good/ bad behaviors and ethics. Parents have increasingly relinquished this responsibility more and more over the last 60 years. When your child spends more time each day with a authoritative, activist, leftist teacher/Professor/Manager and then with peers who encourage increasing extreme behavior, how is a young person to react? If parents don't monitor and counter their propaganda and continually re enforce good/bad behaviors, you get what you paid for!

It seems that every generation of American's wants their kids childhood easier then they had it. Where my Dad went to school with a 100 lb. pack full of books to the top of Mt. Everest in daily blizzards and avalanches, I only had to scale the Matterhorn with a 50 lb. pack in just heavy snow and large slippery hailstones. My kids were forced to walk up a short sidewalk carrying a massive 5 lb. laptop after being driven to school and dropped off next to the door, amidst the California sunshine, while only wearing SPF 50 sunscreen. What's in store for potential grand-kids (not likely) is very concerning and bodes ill for the future of the U.S,

Yep reminds me of "In the year 2525"...the Zager and Evans song! We are or have become weaker than ever before as a nation. Yes, I know that's a broad brush statement. How many kids today know how to use basic tools and use critical thinking much less ask, is this the wise thing to do?

It isn't just TEENAGERS.

You'd be surprised how many ADULTS do it here in the Atlanta area of GA.

Yes, aa's, certainly--but out in the burbs it's VERY popular with ADULT Hispanic men.

Adult by age, that is--not maturity...........

Isn't "Marisol" a Hispanic name? Though I note she doesn't look typical Hispanic....

We, society, do not let children hurt themselves when they are young, when the consequences are small and they heal fast. So they learn, if they do, when they are old enough that the consequences are high for them and others.
