I loaded $300 on a Vanilla Gift card at Safeway and was hacked within 24 hours
It may have been related to my 3 month membership at the Christian mingle website. I had 4 female scammers out of 6 women I responded to.
Incredible the deception on that dating website.
The customer service for both mingle and vanilla is very bad.
I will eventually get my $300 back, say by August.
I won't be using gift cards again and online dating also was an interesting experience. I did some of my best writing on spiritual issues interacting with these women.
We live in an age of deception and treason.
SO true! Deception and treason abound.
After the divorce, I came to the realization that I had been very lonely for a very long time.
Joined Christian Mingle. Got some joker pretending to be Swedish, but he had a hint of an Hispanic accent. Sometimes he would want to talk and sometimes he would give me the brush off.
I wasn't emotionally involved. Some things didn't add up. I made mental notes.
At the end he tried to "borrow" money from me. Since he was the supposed foreman on an oil rig off the coast of NC, when a crew member became incapacitated, he WOULD HAVE ACCESS to whatever resources the company had to replace that injured worker. He wouldn't need to borrow money from me. SMH. SERIOUSLY!!
I merely told him goodbye and signed off. Reported him. Got refunded.
NEVER planned on getting on another such site again, but winter was long and loneliness grew. I ended up on Zoosk.
Had put an unspoken fleece before the Lord asking for God to send me a man who, when asked what his favorite Bible verse was, would answer Proverbs 3:5 and/or 6.
Some guys (professed Christians, mind you) ignored the question. I then ignored them.
Some would say John 3:16 or give me an entire chapter, such as Psalm 37.
In chatting with a new guy on June 10, 2021, I asked the question. He answered it with Proverbs 3:6.
My jaw hit the floor. Got to know him better online. He came to visit me (NOT at my house) a couple of times. I reciprocated, as we were 119 miles apart and I felt safe enough to do so. DS had met the "Ax Murderer," and couldn't find anything wrong with him. They actually have a lot in common.
Now, almost a year later, we are engaged. He still has a lot to overcome from a painful marriage that not only ended in a divorce he didn't want, but she took everything he had except his car which he lived out of for a while. So when he's done processing all of it, we will make it a permanent relationship. He informed me on Mother's Day that we were engaged. LOL!
In the meantime, he treats me better than any man ever has. He's been more of a husband to me than that man I was married to for 38 years. He's totally transparent. I even know the codes to get into his phones. He doesn't care. He has nothing to hide.
So don't give up on dating websites. Put your own unspoken fleece before the Lord. See what He will do for you.
I also met a guy who has become my online friend. I met him a couple of times in person. I text him Bible verses a lot to encourage him. He considers me a sister in Christ.
God brings people together for His reasons. He has a plan for each of His children and He's working it for our good. I will be praying for you.
