On top of everything else now going on, it looks like the annual "can't pass a Federal Budget On Time," scenario is playing out for the umpteenth time. The Federal Government has been consistently unable, year after year, to pass a unified budget, on time and on budget.

The Federal Government fiscal year runs from October 1st, to September 30th, and has increasingly resembled a series of resolutions lasting from two to six weeks each. The idea is to actually pass a Federal budget that covers the entire year from October 1st, 2019 to September 30th, 2020. Like I said, the Federales haven't passed a full one year budget, ie avoid a "government shutdown," for multiple year now. It is a sign of the endless chaos, the endless corruption and incompetence that the Federales can't even manage to do the one thing, pass a one year budget, that would define a functional government. :hof:

I will also point out the total US Federal deficit is now 22 Trillion and change.

Senate passes stopgap spending bill, delays potential shutdown

The Senate Thursday overwhelmingly approved a stopgap spending bill, avoiding a government shutdown

The continuing resolution, which passed with a vote of 82 to 15, would maintain congressional spending authorization until Nov. 21, and reauthorize programs that would otherwise have lapsed at the end of September. Congress will be able to use the extra time to try and work out appropriations bills for 2020.

The measure already passed in the House with a 301-123 vote. Three Democratic representatives opposed the bill, and 76 Republicans voted in favor.

President Trump still has to sign the bill into law, but a White House official indicated Monday that he plans on doing so, according to RollCall.

Before the vote, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., proposed an amendment to the bill that would have reduced spending by two percent. That amendment failed after a vote of 73-24.

Paul has long railed against what he believes is unnecessary government spending. In July, he took to the Senate floor to criticize a budget deal that he called the "death of the Tea Party movement in America."

Seriously, we go through this government shut down crap every autumn when the fiscal year ends on September 30th, and the new one begins October 1st. With impeachment on the table, I have no idea if this failure to make a new budget will be worse than usual. Remember, we had the government actually shut down for a few days, back a couple of years ago. We are going into the Holiday Season and no government money after the 21st will cause confusion everywhere.

Hmm...with everything going on I almost think this would be a good time to remind folks their jobs are not necessary. Last time a budgetary shut down occurred, things backfired badly for the democrats.
