WTF?!? TV chef Curtis Stone says McDonald's supersized burger should come with health warning

Chef Curtis Stone, who designed the menu for this weekend’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, told Fox News Digital it is "probably a good idea" for McDonald’s to put a "health warning" on its Double Big Mac.

"You can eat fast-food once in a while," Stone said. "That’s up to you, of course. I would just be careful with it."

Stone said consumers may assume that a fast-food company has "done its due diligence or is being responsible when they serve [their food]. Some of these companies serve things that are just ridiculous and have crazy caloric intakes, and I just don’t know that we need to be doing that regularly."

He said eating healthily is "always about balance."

"You’ve got to make sure you keep things in balance. I think eating often throughout the day is important. I know there’s a lot of talk about fasting and that’s OK, that’s one way to do it, but I think actually checking in with yourself a few times, so you don’t ever get super starving because that’s when you go on that giant blowout. And eat what comes out of the ground, not what comes out of packets."

The founder of Michelin-starred restaurant Maude in Beverly Hills, California, will be cooking for 900 guests at the SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles this Saturday.

"We have to cook a plate of food that is going to serve everybody really quickly, it’s got to be absolutely delicious, it’s got to be an expression of the season, so, lots of different considerations," he explained.

"And we literally set up tables a mile long, and we line them with plates, and we walk up that line like an army of cooks, and we get it done fast," he added.

The 48-year-old chef also talked about his new video podcast "Getting Grilled" in which he cooks and has conversations with celebrities.

He said he just filmed with musician Gavin Rossdale, who was "incredible," and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, who had him in "stitches." He added that former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila was "one of my favorite interviews. Really interesting dude."

"Incredible guests," he added. "We learn so much about them on that show."

Stone also had his actress wife Lindsay Price on the Valentine’s Day show, during which they discussed his decision to wait to propose to her.

"It was a terrible decision," the chef admitted. "What I should have done is just propose to her immediately, because she’s a good girl and I love her lots."

Stone revealed that after they found out they were going to have a baby he did not want to "quickly drop down on one knee" because he felt like he had to "pull off some kind of shotgun wedding because I had to. I love her and I wanted to propose when the time was right. So, I did wait. But, no, I should have just done it."

He joked that the most romantic thing he has done for her was buying her tickets to go skiing "without me this weekend, so she got to go with some friends and I got to stay here and hold down the fort. So, I don’t know whether she’d see it as romantic, but I thought it was pretty cool."

He added that "fatherhood is the best thing in the world. I absolutely love it. My boys are rock stars. I think they’re incredible humans and I just love being around them and love being a part of their life."

He noted, though, that parenthood "isn’t easy. You’re constantly cleaning up after them, trying to get them to clean up and constantly taking care of business, but I wouldn’t change it."

BS, people just look to see if they can afford it. Few care about how healthy it is otherwise they would not eat there.

They also have them here in Ireland, but I would not want to eat one. Most Mikey D food should probably have a health warning but not in the way the chef says, notice he has to give the party line on how "it is OK once in a while." McDonald's used to sue people who made flat-out statements about the food being unhealthy. They didn't have to win, just bankrupt the individuals in question. It worked in the UK a few years ago. But UK defimation laws are different from the US.

Yeah well...I'm looking at the stats for a Double Big Mac as an example - 780 calories.

If you made it at home, (or this fancy chef dude in the OP article made it!) 4 burger patties, a couple slices of cheese, and a bun and a half with sauce is going to end up as 780 calories with similar/equal fat content - no matter the source.

It's personal choice whether you decide to eat that much for lunch. Don't blame Micky Dee's.

Double Big Mac? Must be an Australian thing.
I tried one thinking it might replace my usual two Big Macs with half the bread. Big Mc Mistake. Those things are MESSY. Beyond the usual mess a Big Mac makes, the patties slide out and I ended up eating those two extra burger patties with my fingers and wishing I had a knife and fork.

Not worth the mess to get the same beef protein as a Double Whopper, Wendy's Double, Double Quarter Pounder or two Big Macs provide.

He's got a point. I mean, have you SEEN the new Footlong Cookie at Subway? Or the Baskin-Robbins Oreo Milkshake?

(though, apparently, this is the 2009 recipe. The 2023 recipe only has 1400 calories.)

Thanks, I saw the reel for their secret menu with some monstrously huge big mac that was something like nine hamburger patties and the guy eating did what you did, ate it with his fingers.

Sounds like an In 'N Out Double-Double-Double-Double-Double-Double-Double (Double meat-Double cheese x5).

Double big mac??? Yikes! About twice a year I get a craving for a Big Mac. I immediately remove the 3rd bun, and still can only eat like 2/3 of it.

Currently trying to work on one of the more important preps - getting healthy - so no fast food at all now. However, a burger made at home with grass fed beef is way better anyway.

Sounds like the chef has socialist tendancies and too much time on the team. What is it about freedom and Freewill that people like that simply cannot comprehend. It doesn’t matter whether they are right or wrong. People have the right to make their own choices.

Remember if you ever want MCD sweet tea, the receipe is 1 lb of sugar per gallon of tea. Yep a 1 to 1 ratio.......

Wow. An entire days calorie intake, with enough sugar to put you in a coma.

So they like a little tea with their sugar?

The food there is NOTHING like McD.
I’ve only eaten there once or twice but it was darn good, for fast food.
My parents thought it was just the bomb! Lol….they’d go once or twice a month

I miss those days…..sigh***

We have a Culvers here in SC too! Now when I could eat that much grease it was the BEST burger around aside from homemade. The kids still love going there as I find Culver's bags in the trash frequently.

God has a plan, Trust it!
How about he price his Michelin-guide restaurants at low-income affordability levels. Oh wait. ....
You realize he facilitates Feeding America in the US and Second-Bite in Australia, both non-profits that work to make good food affordable for the poor by redistributing surplus food to local neighborhoods. He is also a huge charity raiser for other charities that help feed the poor and educates on nutrition on a budget.

Of all the "famous chefs", he's the one that walks the walk and pulls up his sleeves directly to help. Don't see Gordon Ramsey, Giada or Emeril doing that as much as he does.
