Donald Trump has made a point of denigrating super PACs, explaining a quid pro quo expectation exists between donors and the candidates, but the real estate mogul attended and briefly spoke at a Make America Great Again PAC gathering in New York last month, Politico reports.

Mike Ciletti, a consultant for the super PAC, told the website that the 200 people in attendance comprised "a combination of friends that have known Mr. Trump for years while others were meeting him for the first time."
During a Sunday appearance on CBS News' "Face the Nation," Trump explained that he’s accepting contributions, "but it has to be no strings attached."

"I don't want lobbyists, I don't want special interests, but certainly people — we have a lot of money coming in," Trump said. "I would even take big contributors as long as they don't expect anything, because the only people that can expect something from me is going to be the people that want to see our country be great again.

"I actually like the idea of investing in a campaign, but it has to be no strings attached. I don't want any strings attached," he added.

During that same CBS appearance, according to CNN, Trump shared his direct knowledge of giving something with the expectation of getting something.

"Look, I know the people that want something," he said. "I've been doing this all my life. I've been a very big contributor to many, many people on all sides for many, many years. I don't want lobbyists. I don't want special interests.
Special:
"He said he recently took a check for $7.23 from a woman who sent 'a beautiful little letter' saying it was all she had," CNN reported.

"But he said he rejected a $5 million contribution from a lobbyist — who Trump didn't name — who he expected would want favors in return in the years ahead."

During his June announcement speech, the businessman worth a reported $10 billion pledged to self-finance his campaign.

"I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich," he boasted, according to Politico.

There are five pro-Trump super PACs, Politico reports, but whether the billionaire is actively involved with any of them is unknown.

He emailed a statement to Politico stating that "there are so many people wanting to contribute and I am so grateful for their support. I appreciate the moral investment in my vision to Make America Great Again."
According to Trump, "somebody that’s reliant on all of these lobbyists and special interests and donors, they have no power to make a decision, because they feel obligated to all these people."

Donald Trump Has Given Millions To Pro-Romney SuperPACs And His Whole Family Is Cutting Checks To Mitt's Campaign

http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-romney-super-pac-donations-2012-9

Last week, we had a post on Donald Trump's surprising lack of financial contribution to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

We were surprised, given that Trump has been a prominent public backer of the former Massachusetts Governor since January, that the FEC reported the billionaire celebrity real estate mogul giving a lot less than we had expected.

But today got a call from Trump's executive vice president and special counsel Michael Cohen, who told us that Trump has actually donated a lot more money than the FEC has reported so far.

According to Cohen, Trump has given millions to SuperPACs supporting Romney's campaign, and is also one of the campaign's "bundlers" — an exclusive group of big-money fundraisers who the Romney campaign has kept secret. Cohen also said that Trump has gotten his whole family to pitch in to make Romney president.

It's still weird that the FEC doesn't have a public record of what was described to us as a series of contributions to Republican causes over the past two years, but what we were told is still really interesting.

It turns out that Trump has pulled out all the stops when it comes to donating to Romney, and the disclosures we were looking for haven't been released by the Federal Elections Commission.

Michael Cohen, the Executive Vice President and Special Council to Trump, gave us a full look into Trump's work on the campaign to elect Romney.

According to Cohen, Trump has donated "millions" to SuperPACs which support the Romney campaign. He wouldn't say which ones, and since disclosure requirements for SuperPACs are sketchy, we may not find out.

Still, looking at the Romney SuperPACs that have raised more than a million dollars to support the Republican, it's plausible that groups like Restore Our Future, Club for Growth Action, and American Crossroads have raised from Trump.

SuperPACs are organizations that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money on elections, all without the same disclosure requirements of typical Political Action Committees.

Cohen also told us that Donald Trump is one of the people referred to as a bundler, or a person who uses their personal network to raise large amounts of cash from friends for political campaigns.

Controversially, the Romney campaign hasn't disclosed their bundlers, but Cohen told us that Trump has "raised mega-millions" for Romney and groups affiliated with him.

Even more, Trump has raised from his own friends and family. Cohen says that Trump has maxed out contributions to Romney, and — per his request — so have his three children Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric through the Romney Victory Fund,

The Romney Victory Fund is a way for donors to max out their contribution with a single check. It achieves the maximum amount of Party and PAC funding that the FEC allows — $70,800 per cycle — split between a number of different State PACs and Party Committees to stay legal.

It also maxes out the contribution to the Romney campaign, bringing the full donation to $75,800.

Cohen told us that Trump donated at the behest of his friend Woody Johnson, the New York Jets owner, and also did so through his attorney in Texas, Paul Jensen.

Cohen, on behalf of Trump, was very open about the whole process. The billionaire real estate developer has come out, according to Cohen, as Romney's "most active surrogate."

If this is all accurate, we stand corrected when it comes to what we said last week about Trump stiffing the Romney campaign.

The first one is correct. He had so many people sending him small contributions, wanting to be a part of his campaign.

He did tell those who were starting super-PACs for his to stop and send all the money back.

You may want to put the date of the second article in there. It was from Sep. 5, 2012, 12:19 PM.

And by all means, don't forget to include the date on your first post

Did you omit the dates of both of those articles on purpose?

You know what. I am getting sick and tired of you people defending everything Trump does while condemning everybody else. So the hell what it was 4 years ago. He was bundiling for Super Pacs to give to a contender and now he condemns others for getting money from Super Pacs. Which is perfectly legal by the way. Shat the hell is the difference between big money donors giving individually or combining with others to for a Pac? I guess Trump doesn't have to report the names of those individuals while Pacs do have to report donations. I new this would be useless. I could have kept posting additional articles but I figure what is the use. Trump supporters will always make excuses.
I even read one report that said that Trump is putting donations into his own bank account and funding his campaign. Another said he has actually only spent just over $100k of his own money. So much for self funding. That would probably cover the cost on one flight in his private plane.

Neither here nor there.

Nice passive aggressive response. All I ask is that you put the date on the article if the article that you are linking to actually has a date on it, and that's not an unreasonable request.

I'm stating what I believe to be the truth on any candidate. If I screw up and post something that is not true, by all means... correct me on it. If you don't like an article posted about your candidate, defend him if you can.

Your first article is no longer correct. I've never seen the second one so I didn't comment on it except that it was old. The titles make them sound current and some people don't think to check the dates. As for the other stuff you're saying, provide links and we can talk about them.

If you just didn't think to include the dates, that's ok; just say so.

Be Well

may all be well
Wow, an article from August saying that Trump accepts huge donations. He stopped all PACs in his name months ago and didn't take or accept any monies.

And then the OP gets mad when called on this deceit. Too bad....
