SCAM Truck 'repo' ring in the southwest

On TB every waking moment
FOAF does diesel truck/equipment repair. Got hired to inspect/pick up a truck in Texas that was located on the net by the purchaser and drive it back east. No mechanical issues, was given fob/key and hit the road home.

Stopped at a truck stop for a break, came out and found truck gone.

Surveillance video showed a sedan following the truck in and parking nearby. LEOs found the truck in a couple of hours and the scammers too.

We had a ring out here in Nebraska about a month ago that used a couple of crews composed of three men and a tow truck to target F-150/1550 trucks. One guy would get out and use a laser to blind any cameras, and the other two would hook up the truck. Done and gone in only a short few minutes. Thankfully I think they moved on from our area, but quite a few people around me got hit.

My neighbor just had their 2 very new trucks broken into. Both trucks were locked, and you needed the key fob to open the doors. The thieves must have had an electronic device that opened the doors. It turned out that over 5 vehicles were opened the same way in our neighborhood. No signs of forced entry. Looks like the key fob idea is not working out.

This concerns me, as HD diesel truck prices have hit the stratosphere! I only have a carport, and I hate having my Cummins sitting out. Thankfully, my neighborhood has almost zero crime

Happened here locally, the yakass that was in on the thefts worked at a local dealership and had access to some sort of universal door opener type fob. The story was all of about five seconds on the local news and promptly disappeared, I assumed because the yakass in question was probably connected somehow or another. -> central Iowa.

do you have any idea what were the makes of the trucks? im in vegas and always try to keep

do you happen to know the makes of the trucks? im in vegas and would like to know the types they are hitting. the catalytic converters are getting hit bad here.

Had some rodeo friends lose their new Chevy with an empty horse trailer while getting a snack. My nephew lost his truck at his house in two minutes. Has it on video but it was so fast he couldn't stop it. I think they just plug into the computer system and go. It is crazy.
