Hey,

I am traveling today to the doctor to St. Louis, from my little dinky village.

I would appreciate some prayers if you have a moment......I am really feeling scared to go....not sure why. I just really HATE going into the city!! I always end up in a part of town that I'm NOT supposed to be in!!

So if you feel the inclination, please ask God to get me to the appointment and back safe and sound.....and I sure would appreciate it if the doctor was half way intelligent!!

Looking at a knee replacement possibly and a surgery on a torn medial meniscus at minimum, but I'm betting on a total knee. The other one is worse than this one, just not having a flare because this one hurts so bad lately.....

LOTS of Osteoarthritis in BOTH knees. And DJD everywhere.....not much use if I can't get around. In the coming days if I can garden and shoot I will probably survive, but otherwise......:shk:

Chat about the "Half Knee Total Knee Replacement" that is done at the Cleveland Clinic (bride's doc helped pioneer it) where they only have to replace half of the two bulbous structures on the end of the femur, one side or the other.

RELIC's recovery was pretty darn quick with that option. And since she's relatively a young gal when this one needs replacement (they DO age out after 15-20 years) they can do a true total later.

Prayers for good trip, and a good discussion...

Amen on your prayers; and you're not alone, really. I always get on edge going into a major city too. Most of us likely do. But remember you're doing it for a very good reason.

Heck, I hate going to Boone (population about 19,000) and that's only about an hour away.

I'm also one who HATES driving into "the city"... Even the nearest small "city" with about 30,000 people is more crowded than I like to deal with. Having to go to Buffalo for medical care is a nightmare...

Boy, I know what you mean about going into a city. I hate it and I refuse to drive in one. Good luck with your Dr and your knee. Knees can be very painful and I pray your problems can be resolved. Hugs

Well, I made it!!

Absolutely NO PROBLEM finding everything and going the right way!!

Thank you each and every one for all your kindness and prayers.....it means a lot!!

Surgery scheduled for May 3rd. Will be a "scope" surgery to repair the Medial Meniscus. Not only is it torn horizontally, but it is torn across the front length-wise. The reason it has hurt so bad is that it flips up on top of the bone and the bones moving pinches it! Yes. It kinda feels like some one is stabbing me in the knee.

The doc seems really good. He found places in my knee I didn't even know hurt!

He has done surgery on professional sports stars>>>>one is Al McInnes of the National Hockey league!! The examining room is full of signed pictures of athletes thanking him by name!!

I like him and that is important!

EXCELLENT!!!

trusting your surgeon is about 50% of a good outcome.

EXCELLENT that he can deal with the plica your meniscus developed!!

The Dr in Nashville who took care of my shoulder is the same Dr who also treats the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators ;)
