Transmission help

I have a 97 ford ex. We had to put in a transmission (Rebuilt). When we picked the car up it ran good. After a couple of days it started to leak transmission fluid, took it back, they said it was the air conditioning running that might have cause it (?) so, they said they fixed the leaked, took the car again, same problem, this time they said it was a sealed that went bad, ok, took back, they fixed. Today I saw the leaked again, what is it? We can't keep taking it back and back, that leaves us with no transportation. ANY help will be helpful.

I work in a repair shop, as a service advisor. Was this a remanufactured trans? or was it rebuilt by the shop? Either way it should have had all new seals installed including front pump, rear outlet any valves, switches or sensors. What kind of warranty did they give you? Some more info would be helpful, Make them tell you where the leak is. The A/C has NOTHING to do with it...PM me if you want

Where's it leaking from?

If it's leaking from the transmission pan (the flat pan directly under the transmission with a bunch of screws around it's perimeter), then the fix may be as simple as tightening those screws or replacing the gasket. If the transmission is leaking from the end, then the problem may be a rear main oil seal (a rubber 'donut' that fits around the crankshaft). If it is leaking there the oil seal may have cracked or not been installed properly.

What color is the fluid that is leaking? Soak some up with a white paper towel so you can see the color better.

Sorry for late reply. The color was a reddish pink, and it was a manufactured rebuilt with a warranty. The car is back at the shop, he said he thought it was a cracked pan. So we will see.

Well reddish pink would be transmission fluid. The shop should have seen this before they gave it back to you the first time. Hopefully they will check their work more carefully this time and the transmission will last you a long time.

Thanks, I took back the car, they replaced a dipstick and a seal. They said this is where the problem was. They didn't charge me for this. I will know when I get it back and drive it. HOPEFULLY, this solves the problem.
