She'll do well. Sounds like a strong dog.
I never cleaned my dog's teeth. As a result, after twenty years she had developed a sometimes smelly mouth from tartar buildup. Then it became all the time. That in turn developed into a nasal infection and mucus problems for her. She's too old to be put under to clean her teeth, the vet says don't do it, she might die. I tried prescribed antibiotic courses to bring relief to the mucus problem. It worked like a charm for a while but symptoms returned as expected after the medication ended. I felt continuing again and again would not be a good idea on her system.
Then I came up with the idea to place some higher quality silver colloid into her daily water. The theory was that the silver would remain in her mouth for a time after drinking and kill off some of the bacteria causing the infection. Well, it worked! Mucus production dropped. The infection is NOT entirely gone, but greatly reduced and really, really improved her quality of life.
I told my vet and he asked "What's colloidal silver?". He was not interested in the least. I kind of expected that anyway. That's OK.
I hope this helps others with dogs suffering from mouth rot. It does not cure, but it does treat. I use Meso Silver from Purest Colloids. I experimented with the amount to administer at first and adjust for symptom control. I use a small ceramic dish, not metal. My dog is less than 20 pounds. About half a dropper to 16OZ Berkey filtered water in her dish.
