So, after kickoff, this new room seems to be a good idea. Just remember, it's up to all of you to keep it going. You should periodically post a thread on Main referencing this room, as well as including a reference to the "prep rooms" master link. Please all do your part to keep it going.

Thanks

Dennis

Will do. I'll do my part by posting a weekend thread, each week, about gardening plans for the weekend etc. of course in the winter for us northerner's this means which seed and tool catalogs are you drooling over!

I am impressed with the number of articles and have already learned more than I expected to. :eleph:

Glad to hear this! I wasn't as surprised as many folks here talk about being busy with their gardens anytime a new thread pops up wondering where everyone made off too, ie why is the main so quite.

As thrilled as I am to have a dedicated gardening forum I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute since my raised bed gardens literally drowned this summer due to extreme rainfall amounts totaling over 40" of rain so far this year (primarily April through current). You would think that raised beds would have prevented this but when you have this kind of consistent moisture followed by intense heat these poor plants didn't stand a chance outside of a covered greenhouse.

However, I am planning my fall garden and have taken on another adventure of sustainability; raising my own chickens. My potted herbs have done well in providing my young chicks with organic nutrition in the form of parsley, oregano, sage, basil, and thyme added to their food and water. I never dreamed my garden would be such an asset to my chickens.
