Looks like Government Motors in re-introducing the "Police Car" to its inventory

can someone explain the need for these cattle bumpers to me please .... they wont stop a human crowd, but they would push vehicles off road.

the push bumpers are jsut that, for pusing a disable car off a road way.
Properly used they can also be used to casue a car being prusued to spin out.

I can tell you though, this car wont do well in the police community.
Most cops are big tall guys and the caprice is just to small for them.
Thats why most PDs use Dodges of Crown VIcs.

Now make it with a longer wheel base and better leg room for the big and tall and it will be a smash.

I had a chance to buy the old Malibu S/S with the 350 Corvette motor in it.

That was a nice sized car.

Declined because it would have been a big pig in a Wisconsin winter.

Mainly for the PIT manuever technique mainly. The bumper makes sure that the front end of the cop car isn't taken out with the perps vehicle.

It may be for for use as a push bumper, but I can tell you that up here they use them for reduced damage from deer accidents. I hit 13 deer and a cow in 23 years. 2 of the deer were hit at speeds over 90 mph. That really ruins your day, and it doesn't do much for the deer either.
