NEW: The high school student who beat his teacher unconscious for taking his Nintendo Switch is suing the school district, blaming them for the attack.

Remarkable.

Lawyers for Brendan Depa, a 6 foot 6, 270 pound teen, say the school district is responsible for ruining Depa’s life.

“The district should be held to account for its failures which have forever changed the trajectory of this young man’s life,” they argued.

The lawyers said that the special needs program should have known that taking electronics from Depa was a ‘trigger.’

The teacher who Depa assaulted suffered broken ribs and a concussion.

Depa is facing 30 years in prison and is set to be sentenced on May 1.

Attempted murder. He kept beating her after she was down and motionless. Kicked her while being dragged off of her. SHE will never be the same. What that animal did left a permanent mark on her mind. Possible 30 year prison sentence? Would be very surprised to see a part of that actually handed down let alone actually served.

A reminder if one was even needed. Avoid this demographic at all times and in all places.

WHAT???? I'm wondering how "special needs" this 270 pound criminal actually is. The issue was not a trigger. It is his lack of impulse control. We all have triggers in our lives but we don't generally go out and beat someone senseless because our toy has been taken away. That was on his parent(s) for even giving him a known trigger.

The second issue, and I see this in abundance in the world today, is taking responsibility for your actions. All actions have consequences. Some are good and others are bad. But it never, ever seems to be the fault of the person doing the action...even if they are caught on video committing the action, unless it's a good outcome. Always take credit for the good and never responsibility for the bad.

Saved, to glorify God.
I alway wonder why these frivolous lawsuits aren’t punished by the judges?

Castrate him like you do an aggressive bull…then send him to a work farm in TX or MS for 20 years.
Actually, this calls for a LOBATOMY, not a castration, but a castration, ALONG WITH THE LOBATOMY, would help calm him. He could look forward to a career as a janitor!
AND, be out MUCH sooner from prison!
This kind of uncontrolled rage HAS an absolute CURE
in one day!.

Because the judges don't usually get to see the case. Often and usually cases like this get settled out of court. In this case I wouldn't be the lest surprised.

In the private sector this would just increase the cost of liability insurance and thus steals jobs and increases inflation cost. By mandate basically. When settled out of court.

In the public sector the cost to settle takes away the quality of the service being provided and increases taxes, once settled out of court.

They will say it's cheaper to just settle. And it is for the short time. But not long term.

There's a really good poem by Benjamin Franklin, I'll post it later. Last time I searched the net for it and couldn't find it. But the other day I found a hardcopy I had. It explains the lawyers to a T.

Neither here nor there.
It seems to me like more often than not, these heathens use the I'm special excuse, when their caught doing wrong instead of facing the consequences of their own actions, and the schools and courts just let them walk all over people because of it.

They are not able to accept consequences, their conscience has been seared.

I know lawyers can with ease,
Twist words & meanings as you please,
That language, by your skill made pliant.
Will bend to favor every client,
That this the fee limits the sense,
To make out either sides pretence,
When I know lawyers can with ease,
Twist words & meanings as you please,
That language, by your skill made pliant,
Will bend, to favor every client;
That this the fee limits the sense,
When you peruse the clearest case,
You see it with a double face,
For skepticism your profession,
You hold there's doubting all expression.

money? whats that?
A while back there was a sci-fi show called "Farscape". In one episode they were at the planet Litigara. A planet of nothing but lawyers. They had an answer to a lot of this nonsense. The lawyer shared the punishment WITH the convicted. Nobody liked taking murder cases on that planet.

Sounds like the makings of a plan to me.
