VIDEO The Crisis Phase: The Fourth Turning Explained by Neil Howe

Plain Jane

Just Plain Jane
Howe is interviewed by a first wave Millennial in Germany whose English skills are very good. Howe seems to be coping better with his TDS and trying to wrap his head around the fact that the populists are gaining a lot of strength in the younger generations.

The first 25 minutes are a general discussion about Strauss and Howe's work through the years and the conclusions that they came to about generations and turnings.

More contemporary issues are then discussed. A couple of points here.
1. Howe thinks that "woke" language is Millennials attempt to unify around compassion. It made me wonder if Howe has been encouraged to speak to European audiences ahead of the EU Parliamentary election.

2. In light of shrinking demographics, economies are trying to figure out how to stay afloat. Capital doesn't know how to act if younger generations are shrinking.

Thanks for posting the video. I'll have to view it later.

Howe is a California boy who never understood what deindustrialization did to the Northeast and upper Midwest, and it shows. I also think that he is aligned with the interests of his wealthy financial clients. It was his take on what society will do when there is population decline that opens up new possibilities.
He says that we are all supposed to rally around and sacrifice for a cause but how does this happen when you have increasing immigration from lands that are hostile to your society.

That's why I'm interested in the video you posted.
