Kritter, that was your first novel?!!! Wow! I read a few chapters of it tonight and was very impressed, but had no idea it was your first.

Yeah, it was originally just a short fan fic I'd written on Robert E. Howard's 'Conan' fan site (with Aquilonians, Stygians and Cimmerians instead of Romans, Egyptians and Barbarians,) back in like 2006, but it got a ton of positive feedback. So while I was stuck in San Diego a few years ago, I started toying with the idea, found a time period it could work in, and roughed out an outline for it, and then every day during lunch hour I would just jot ideas in a notebook. Took me literally a whole year to write it, and then I started writing Swing Zone so it sort of fell by the wayside. After I wrote SZ2..I went back to this and edited it with the help of a few TB'ers (one woman here in particular - I wish I could remember her name off the top of my head) and put it up for free over at Smashwords. The e-book has been edited a teeny bit since this, so the story is a bit more cohesive.

(see pretty cover .. leave a review! -> https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/236813)

But yeah I posted it here AFTER I wrote SZ 1 & 2, so that's why it post dates them.

There's actually a lot of mythology hidden in this story. Mardus, Galen and Leo represent the Roman Triad: Mars, Jupiter and the two-faced Janus. (Mars being their God of Agriculture originally, if you can imagine that.) Simera and Cayden are (almost exactly) based on Artemus and Orion, and Marina is, of course, Venus. :)

Critter,

A very good story that took one long night into the wee hours and a couple of hours today to finish.

Thank you.
