It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.

The movie trailers are located in post #7.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. This 2013 comedy stars Ben Stiller, Kristin Wiig, and Jon Daly.

- Stop dreaming. Start living.

- When both he and a colleague are about to lose their job, Walter takes action by embarking on an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

In this comedic adaptation of James Thurber's short story, Ben Stiller stars as Walter, a milquetoast proofreader for a magazine publishing firm. Walter is continually incapable of standing up for himself, so he retreats into his fantasy world where he is heroic, poised, self-assured, and the master of his fate.

The second movie is 36 Hours. This 1964 WW2 thriller stars James Garner, Eva Marie Saint, and Rod Taylor. This is a high quality version of this film.

In this psychological war-drama an Army Major is captured by the Germans during World War II. They attempt to brainwash him into believing the war is over and that he is safe in an Allied hospital, so that he will divulge Allied invasion plans.

The fourth movie is The Fast and The Furious. This 2001 action thriller stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster. This is the one that started the series which is up to at least 10 sequels.

The Fast and the Furious takes you inside the world of street racing. Dominic Toretto is a gang leader accused of hijacking trucks and stealing over a million dollars worth of electronic equipment. The FBI sends in officer Brian O'Conner undercover into Los Angeles' street racing circuit to take down Toretto and his team. As O'Conner becomes part of Toretto's life and gets involved with his sister, Mia, he tries to prove that Toretto is innocent.

The fifth movie is Beginning of the End. This 1957 creature feature stars Peter Graves, Peggie Castle, and Morris Ankrum. This is a high quality version of this monstrous film. There is also a youtube version.

Reporter Audrey Ames is driving along a highway in Illinois when she is stopped by the military. She then finds out that a small town was destroyed and everyone has seemingly disappeared. She then learns that strange things have been happening ever since a bunch of grasshoppers managed to get into a silo containing a batch of radioactive wheat. They soon discover that the grasshoppers have grown to monstrous proportions and not only are devouring the local vegetation, but have developed a taste for human flesh as well. Now the locusts are marching towards Chicago and the military is threatening to destroy the city with the atom bomb. Can another solution to stop the monsters be found before it is too late?

Yes, you can watch and normally save them as well. These are mostly based at archive.org and the rest from youtube.

Click the "movies" tag at the top of the page to see all of the previous movie threads. Many of the movies are still available.

I remember Beginning of the End very well - it's the kind of old sci fy movies that WGN TV would broadcast on saturday afternoons - Godzilla showed up often ....

one of the first "survivalist" movies showed up often - 1955s The Day the World Ended - Day the World Ended (1955) - IMDb - mountain BOL saves survivors from the nuke war until the radioactive human monsters attack ....

I like the Doris Day pics - Pillow Talk was one of her better >>> got soured when I heard that Rock Hudon & Tony Randall probably started their homo relationship during the filming .....

I really liked this movie. It's kind of like Will Ferrell's "Stranger Than Fiction" . . . due to the star, you expect a slap-stick comedy; but, in reality, it's almost a drama. But, because of the drama-styled presentation, the subtle comedy really works.

Again, I like it.

I just watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and have to say that I enjoyed it. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but more than made up for that with unexpected - and enjoyable - plot twists. Definitely worth a watch.

Best

Fringe Ranger
Spoiler alert: in Beginning of the End, when the giant grasshopper attacked the deaf-mute and he tried to scream, I laughed. Probably something wrong with my attitude.

Great old film!

Does anyone remember a scifi film from the 50's where the protagonists are inside a space lander on maybe Mars and the humanoid aliens are seen through the blurry windows, trying to get in? Gave me chills when I was ten or so, and never seen it since.

and a messege for those who need it-first, people like me don't give a shit about people who wipe their asses with the flag. There's a lot of us out there-waiting. We live for this shit.

Uhh, is this in response to something, or just a random thought?

Guess I'll take Walter Middy, 36 hours and pillow talk... or at least 36 hours, since I've never seen it.
Thank You.
As always, appreciate everything you do.

The Water Mitty one isn't that great a quality. Just FYI. You might do better find it on Kodi if you want a higher quality one. It's hit or miss on this us.archive.org site. 36 Hours looks like a good copy. Beginning of the End looked good, too. Thanks for posting them. Nice to see old ones like 36 Hours.
