NEW: North Carolina high school student Christian McGhee was suspended from school for saying "illegal alien" in the classroom.

Calling an illegal alien and illegal alien is not offensive, it's just a fact. McGhee was suspended for three days after doing an assignment in English class.

The teacher told the class to say a sentence with the word "alien" in it. McGhee reportedly said: "Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?"

The school determined the phrase was "offensive and disrespectful" to Hispanic students. "I didn’t make a statement directed towards anyone; I asked a question," McGhee shot back.

"I wasn’t speaking of Hispanics because everyone from other countries needs green cards, and the term 'illegal alien' is an actual term that I hear on the news and can find in the dictionary." His mother is now concerned that he won't be able to get into college.

"He is devastated and concerned that the racism label on his school record will harm his future goal of receiving a track scholarship," she said.

Get someone like Jay Sekulow from ACLJ to sue the crap out of the principal/dean, school board, school superintendent etc.

Raise a stink, fight back like that Catholic kid did who got smeared by CNN etc…that kid‘s set for life $ wise!

Get on Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, etc.

The poor kid should expect worse in the future.

Anything short of kneeling at the altar of "wokeness" will give you a label of "racist".

The mother's strategic description of his devastation suggests she is manufacturing damages. She may find an attorney willing to take that case but that sure feels flimsy if I put on my "Luddite the civil juror hat".

Getting back to the original question that started the whole incident. The kid is either brilliant or extremely lucky to craft such drama from such an innocuous inquiry.

Well Done young teenage boy!

Eta: "Wetback" in spoken conversation and "ill eagle" in written word convey the message better imo. ;)

My first reaction was "run" (find another school), but "fight" is better.

Just "taking it" would be sad...

Suspending a student out of school for stating the obvious is ridiculous. I’d say seek legal recourse and get college paid for is a good compromise. I’d love to be on that jury.
How much money has been awarded lately to people who claim they can’t remember where, when, why, and thirty years ago? So yes, I’d say this story has some valid concerns…. :kaid:

The illegal elephant in the classroom.....all public schools take illegal aliens in as full on students! It's their policy and the schools get federal, state, county monies for each illegal they register into the system. Costing the citizens billions of dollars and stealing precious funding and education from the American citizens that do pay for it.

Fact, illegals steal outright from the tax payers by mandate from our own governments.

They can't have anyone rocking their scam boats. The kid will now be punished accordingly, and by mandate.

The kid and his family can't sue the school. This story will be dropped. In fact it never even happened. Except for the kid getting suspended.

Years ago was listening to talk local news radio interview with our state superintendent of schools or alike big wig.

The reporter asked what are their main concerns regarding public education in our state? The super said over crowding of classrooms and over 30 kids per teacher is a crisis.

Reporter then factually pointed out the thousands of illegal alien kids in the system, then asked if those kids where not enrolled into the system, would there still be a over crowding problem?

Super went on a rampage about how they as public teachers took a oath to teach all kids, bla, bla, bla, for the rest of the interview. And that reporter has never been heard from again. :D

And this is what the school in the above piece will argue. The kid has no case. You can't fight established mandates and if you do, or even hint about it, prepare to eat dirt.

At this point I wouldn't worry too much about a 4 year college....the money from a settlement properly invested will serve him much better.

Tough job these days. Most investment is just a rigged casino. Investing in preps, meanwhile, assumes that the casino will bust before the preps go bad.

Be more devastated and concerned about the right to the freedom of speech is taken away. Get your kid some homeschooling and get them out of public and secular schools.

if said hispanic students are in fact here in our country illegally then they are illegal aliens and need to be deported ASAP.
If any find that offensive they just have to get over it.
The irony is that the school was racial stereotyping by claiming that the words "illegal alien" is offensive to hispanics--as though all Hispanics are here illegally.

Hate he got suspended but am super proud of this kid. His sound argument defending his accurate use of the term is light years ahead of the intellectual maturity of the adults in the school.
