Starter on 2000 Kia

Here is one that stumped me, I got a 2000 Kia Sephia, it was cheap at the time and so far its been a very reliable car.

Last week or so its required two or three turns of the key to get it started. The starter cranks up (The battery is brand new) and the car seems to be normal in all ways other than it wont start

Now mind you, this car has just had a tune up at the dealer (Before we left for the move) and the battery is brand new.

What ya think? Fuel line issue? bad filter somewhere?

Like I said, the starter tries to start the car normaly no issues there but it just wont start up.

What ya think it is?

I have it in the shop now and was informed that no matter what it is, its covered but I was wondering what the heck caused it.

hhhhmmmm

Maybe cold start injector ( not sure if the koreans ever got around to that tho it was prety much a japanese thing)

or maybe fuel pump relay, bad connection or faulty relay

I did some research on this using good old google, seems the fuel pump could be an issue or the relay. Thanks for the info and keep the replies coming if you can think of anything else.

One good note is that the fuel pump is covered by the extended warranty so I am safe there.

I know for a fact the some some of the Kia's have a problem with their fuel pump wiring. The little SUV is the worst of the pack when it comes to that.

Seems that when they built them, they forgot to add clearance to the lid that goes around the fuel pump cover, and after a few miles it would chafe a wire to ground.

Well I get the car back Monday, and the official cause was the part that gives the spark to the engine to start it. I forget the real name of this part (Can you tell I am not a car person lol) but its the part in the engine that sparks so the fuel can ignite and start the car.

The repair was covered by warranty so we are happy about that. The guy who worked on it owns the local garage here and works on all the police and Nevada highway patrol cars too so its a decent garage, He busted his butt to find the problem and when he told our warranty company how much he had done to diagnose it, they had NO issues covering it. Fuel pump was 100% perfect so I'm happy about that

Looks like it was a small part and not a big deal to replace.
