On Thursdays we pick, on Friday we go to market and pick, same for saturday, sunday we go to market. Monday we pick for tuesday...
I Wil do my best to get a nice how to for those who want to produce for themselves cheaply. It will take a bit tho. My real passion is helping folks who wish to prep. Being able to have fresh production regardless of adversity is very important.

Some are almost successful with aquaponics... Thing is fish like really clean water and the plants prefer much higher nutrients.. So both suffer a bit.
I think the best way to combine hydroponics and fish is to use the water from the fish tanks for watering (lots of nutrients from their waste), but to otherwise keep them separate.
Vicki... we've seen some neat displays by FRA members on both various methods of hydroponics and fish farming... But darn it, I can't remember if it was at the NY State fair, or the Erie County fair in Hamburg N.Y.. Erie County will be starting in about 2 weeks, although they're still cleaning up from the tornado that trashed the fairgrounds last week.

Nothing better for your garden or Hydroponic setup than to use pond water. You do want to filter it, But if you have a "nasty" pond with stinky water. You can grow amazing plants with the addition of a well formulated hydroponic nutrient.
It's how I do it. I have a spring at the bottom of the hill. I pump the water by solar to a small 14x40x4 rubber lined pond above the greenhouses. I then gravity feed the hydro tanks with float valves. The spring water is clear, cold, and potable. It is a little high in nutrient during spring runoff. The water is the "pond" is filled with all manner of pond life. Bugs, algae, turtles, and tadpoles. This is after just two years. The water brown and filled with nutrients. It's a cornucopia of life. So by all means use your pond water for your hydro setup or garden watering...
My only caution is don't allow the water to contact any part of the plant you intend to eat. It will likely contain high levels of bacteria that could make you sick. So use drip irrigation.

I use some drip in the dirt, some drip in soilless media, a bato bucket system, and non circulating tanks. I use what works best for the particular crop.

I haven't been to the fair in years but I may look for that when it comes later this month. Maybe I could scoop up Maric to spend a day with me there. That would be fun!
