In a brutal episode of violence, a 17-year-old Las Vegas native, Jonathan Lewis Jr., died following a vicious attack by an estimated group of 15 individuals near Rancho High School.

Jonathan Lewis Sr., the victim’s father, confirmed this on Tuesday.

The attack happened on Wednesday, November 1.

“Today at 11:26 am my son was pronounced dead he will always be so loved as his dad I’ll forever hold him in my heart, shine even brighter, love even more and work all my life to bring peace into this world,” Lewis Sr. wrote.

The teenage boy was undergoing treatment at the University Medical Center when he tragically passed away due to his injuries, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

According to Lewis Sr., the confrontation began when his son stood up for a smaller friend, leading to an escalated attack by multiple assailants.

“Jonathan stood up for one of his smaller friends,” Lewis said.

“A couple (of people) attacked him, and they weren’t able to hurt him enough, and they all attacked him at once,” he said.

Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been reported.

The family is in shock, grappling with the loss of Lewis Jr., whom his father described as a kind, loving, and community-oriented individual, aspiring to pursue art and possibly follow in his grandfather’s footsteps in the military.

“This horrific tragedy is reflective of the divisive, conflict based, uncaring state that our society and humanity is currently facing with how we interact with our community,” Lewis wrote. “Empathy and love are great strength and cowardly violence is pathetic.”

“We denounce violence as a means to sociological conflict and believe being living, caring, respectful, kind, compassion, and caring are the great strength of community and emphasize that those are the values that the warriors of our family teach,” he added.

The Clark County coroner’s office has yet to officially confirm Lewis Jr.’s death, with further details awaited amidst the ongoing police investigation and public outcry over the tragic event.

A fundraising campaign has been launched by Lewis Sr. to support his family, which already raised almost $25,000.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A teenage boy has died days after he was found severely beaten by more than a dozen people near a Las Vegas high school, according to his father.

The attack happened on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the 1900 block of Searles Avenue near Rancho High School.

The boy’s father, Jonathan Lewis spoke to 8 News Now on Thursday and described the incident as a savage crime.

Jonathan Lewis told 8 News Now his 17-year-old son was the one who was beaten up by 15 people and confirmed that he died on Tuesday as a result of the injuries.

Lewis added that his son – who is also called Jonathan Lewis – kept to himself and had plans to move to Austin, Texas with him.

He also expressed disgust and disappointment at the fight that killed his 17-year-old child.

“Violence just begets more violence and these children don’t even know what they’re doing half the time,” he said.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s homicide unit is investigating the incident however, no arrests have been made.

Lewis said he hopes it starts a conversation on youth violence in the Las Vegas valley.

“I hope there’s a way that can find forgiveness in their heart and find a way to be able to come to terms with what they’ve done,” he said.

Lewis currently lives in Texas and his son was living with his mother.

“I just love my children with all my heart, and it’s just unimaginable that we could ever come to this point,” Lewis said.

Lewis added that he kept his son on life support for several days trying to save him, however, his injuries were too severe.

“I think there’s just a failure of all of humanity to recognize that we need to be teaching our youth how to coexist,” he said.

Lewis also said the family was told by investigators they plan to charge several students involved in that fight with murder.

He wished to donate his organs to save others.

"I think there’s just a failure of all of humanity to recognize that we need to be teaching our youth how to coexist."

Lewis had kept his son on life support hoping for a miracle.

Lewis was an artist and was considering joining the United States Navy like his grandfather.

I know many fine blacks. Decent, solid citizens who love family and country. I don't give a rat's ass about the color of anyone's skin. But... it's an enigma.
We have awesome blacks here and we have the ghetto trash too who are barely above animals. And many in between.
Yet, look at Africa-one of the most resource-rich continents on the planet... they hate American naggers for the most part, but they are a backwards cesspool as far as advancement, technology, etc.

I should have been more specific.

If I was to list my (10)ten best friends, (3)three of them would
be Blacks. In fact the most intelligent person that I have ever
met is a Black, probably IQ 150 if not higher. Masters in
electrical engineering, everybody enjoyed working with him.

I also have Blacks in my family.

Good Blacks are maybe now 3% of the African race in

We can no longer rely on law enforcement or district attorneys to do their jobs and protect the White populace so we will need to do it ourselves. The problem is the kumbyah attitude of the father that was evidently passed on to the son. The smaller kid doesn't sound like he was hurt except his pride. Dumb to confront a mob of 15. He could have waited and then helped the smaller kid. And as far as the cops go giving them the benefit of the doubt because the crime has to be investigated before charges can be brought especially with so many involved.

I knew this would start to happen sooner or later because the schools and society are doing nothing much to stop it. It isn't just about race, though certain subcultures may play into it today. My tormentors were primarily white, and they beat me, too. Once hit me in the head with a softball bat (which could have killed me), but I managed to survive (barely). Back then, children didn't tend to kill each other; they simply maimed them. In my case, I had three pairs of broken glasses, and my head was hit repeatedly with volley tether balls (mandatory to play) and punched, then thrown into a ditch.

What my Dad (a musician) remembered the most later was when the kids grabbed my guitar and smashed it.

Eventually, the adults took some action (not much - the lawsuit threats helped) and the other kids started to grow up.

I would have been the small kid, this hero was trying to protect. By the end, I had a few of those too, primarily in college and larger than my former tormentors. When asked years later why they did it, one said, "It was just so much fun!"...

Children without a good upbringing and proper supervision (almost any kid can go rogue in a pack) can become little savages (which is not meant as a slur on traditional people, whose kids usually are brought up well).

I am not posting this for sympathy. This was long ago, but to give some perspective. This goes beyond skin color and is about a society sliding out of control. Or, as Robert Heinline would say: "Welcome to The Crazy Years."

I was talking with a friend of a mutual friend last week who's a school cop in the valley. That person was telling me that the freshman class they've got at the H.S. they work at has had 58 expulsions thus far this year for violent crime. Said that the current crop goes straight to violence.
