SCAM Scam - failed digital coupons at Safeway store Northeastern California.

We shopped today at a Safeway grocery store in Northeastern California. Using the Safeway app on our smartphone, we downloaded 10 digital coupons to our Safeway membership account. When we checked out, none of the digital coupons worth a total $48.00 were deducted from our grand total. The cash registers are not linking the account coupons! The excess charges were retuned when we complained to customer service. Wonder how many other folks have been overcharged and did not notice.

We have learned to double check EVERY ITEM'S COST on the sales receipt against any shelf, advertised or coupon price at EVERY STORE! Watch for shrinking package weights like 16 oz that are now 12 oz for the same or higher price. Read the package ingredients - textured vegetable protein versus real meat, high fructose corn syrup versus sugar, milk versus cream and more water or soy filler in almost everything. Manufacturers are doing every trick in the book to reduce their costs to produce the products and charge you the same or more. Caveat emptor - buyer beware!

Absolutely. And don't forget to check the ingredients label for bugs or bug parts or like worms from now on.

Pass it forward...
Tuesday I overpaid about $5.00 for fuel wood pellets; the store had raised the price about 20% but had not repriced the shelf labels; beware! It was not worth the transportation costs to return and complain. . . The store is short-staffed these days which may be the cause.

I hate the "deduct" at the end of the register roll - especially when there's several items with price reductions >>> sometimes there's quite a bit of $$$$$ involved .....

Speaking of scams...some years ago in California was an electronics store called Federated Electronics. I bought several pairs of "Bugle Boys" trousers from them. Some weeks later and the trousers began to fall apart. I took the pants to a Bugle Boys retailer store and found out the pants were counterfeit!

That electronics store suddenly went out of business.
