[rec]Fried Calamari (Squid)

2 1/2 pounds squid
4 cloves garlic, pressed
1 cup plain breadcrumbs
1 cup flour
olive oil for deep-frying

While holding the squid under running water remove all transparent shells and membranes from hood and discard anything that comes free easily including the ink sac. When the squid has been clean and drained, cut the hood into 1/2 inch wide rings leaving the legs grouped together. Mix the garlic, breadcrumbs and flour together in a plastic bag. Place the squid in the bag to coat with mixture by shaking around a bit . Deep fry in about 2 inches of very hot olive oil for about a minute or until lightly browned. Drain the fried squid on paper towels and keep warm while the balance of the squid is cooked. Do not over cook the squid or it will become rubbery and tough. Can be served with sauce on the side for dipping. (Serves 8 )

Just looking at one of those things gives me the creeps, and now you suggest that I EAT one?

I'll stick with the mushrooms.

P.S., can you use the ink sac to refill a printer cartridge?
