TECH Random, internet wide server failures

I've been talking to a couple of people in Georgia and Mississippi. I'm in the upper midwest.

We've all been experiencing random server failures. You will go to any website, it will work for a few seconds, if you try to navigate within it or to another site, it will bring you to a server failure page. After a few minutes, it will be back up but the failures continue all night and day.

Anyone else having this trouble? It doesn't seem to be limited to any specific kinds of pages. Timebomb itself comes up for me one try in ten.

Hmmm, Saturday Yahoo my ATT.net home page would not load, first time in years.

I opened my favorites folder and clicked on TB2K and it loaded instantly as well as Google Crome was hot as well so getting online was no problem, just Yahoo!

It had my wife all bent out of shape until I showed her how to get online around Yahoo, she called me a smart ass...

I just found it odd that we lived in different sections of the country, used different browsers, and all had the same quirky internet failures. Sometimes, whole pages will load except the images.

I can't remember the bill that cybersecurity or something similar tacked onto it.

If you want me to get even more paranoid, I'll note the escalation of helicopter fly overs in the past three weeks. Minimum of 5 a day, sometimes 2 overnight. Daily they fly over from different directions, some of them go slowly, others are trucking at high speeds.

Not sure if there's a link, just two odd deviations from the norm.

I have had that happen a few random times over the past few months.

I have noticed every night about 0100 hours est my internet crashes out for about 30-45 minutes. Called the isp and they say its a problem on my end. I know it ain't me and everything on my end works perfectly. Every night it goes out. Modem works perfect, computers are perfect. I have tried 5 different systems and all crap out same time. I just loose signal every night. Sad thing is that time of night is the peak browser time in my household. hmmm makes you wonder.

S'why I put my feelers up on this here thread.

Glad I'm not the only one a little suspicious, at least.

I've experienced trouble for about a week using Internet Explorer so I switch to FireFox and then can get around.

We have had a lot of trouble lately too with Internet. One of the folks that I buy from helped me to get SOME of it fixed today.

Was out shopping in Colorado Springs today and at one thrift store, the computer was down and they could only take cash. Cashier said it had been sporadic all day.

Last Monday I went to the bank to make a deposit and the teller hand stamped my receipt, she said their system was down.
This past Saturday night I couldn't go anywhere on the net using Foxfire or IE. I also have AOL and it was fine.

Yeah, I keep getting random server failure problems like that. It usually means the server for the website is down. It also seems like random DDoS.

I just get paranoid after major legislation is passed about the world wide web. I'm always wary of a large shakedown.

THanks for all the posts! It's good to know it's not just me and people I talk to!

Not one to jump on the bandwagon but me too. For two weeks now. My net is sporatically slow to stop. It slows to a no connect and then reconnects. I figured it was my ISP slowing it down to force me into their "higher" speed internet. But now not to sure.

I have been having trouble for almost 2 weeks. They sent me a new DSL modem. It's a little better, but still not good. Last night I kept getting the "cannot connect to server" or some such notice. I gave up and watched tv! This morning I reset the DSL, and it started working again. Very frustrating!

I also am having trouble with my DSL internet connection. About three weeks ago we had a state-wide outage, where the problem was discovered and finally corrected. Since then, I had additional troubles and they said it was a problem with my DSL modem. Got a new DSL modem and everything was fine for a while, then last night my connection was down again. Has been up and down since then. I've had this ISP for a year and the downtime three weeks ago was the first with this ISP (Fairpoint).

Odd. Very ,very odd.

Put THAT, together with the thread about Morgan Stanley being in imminent danger of collapse, and it begins to make sense---

"IF" such a large house "IS" about to go under, we wouldn't want info to that effect to be able to get around too easily, would we???

I've been noticing these random outages as well. My computer has been having to "look up" frequently-visited websites much more often than in the past. It acts DNS related, but I'm far from an expert on the subject.

I suddenly feel like there will never be enough tinfoil. I mean that in the most sincere and humor supplementary way possible. I only see news like this on tb2k and not on my facebook. I get feminism articles, pro-choice opinions, and defense of Obama's ears from those who mocked the pink ears of Bush.

If I could describe current events it would be one word: "Undertow."
