Do any of you know if there are any fish farming operations that would sell directly to the Public?

i am particularly interested in northern Mississippi, northwest Alabama, east Arkansas or West/middle Tennessee operations, as those are the areas close enough to me that I could drive to them.

But other people might be interested in fish farming operations in other parts of the country.

in particular, I am looking for locally sourced fish meal or other suitable animal feed for my chickens.

Thanks in advance for information or insights

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but will this help?

It's located in Tunica.

I hear alot of operations have stuff left over after their regular human food production line runs, that is suitable for animal feed.

That is the kind of thing I am looking for, if they will sell the edible remnants of their production line to the public.

I have been on Pride of the Pond’s website before, and saw no mention of selling animal grade edibles. I guess I could call and ask, but I thought I would throw the question out to folks here first, and see if they could point me to resourses I do not yet know about.

Barry - look up fish farms in nearby counties and then call the county ag extension office for that county and feel around. Hale County in AL has a HUGE farming operation but it is really too far to drive imho since you know there are others.

If you can outline your exact usage I know someone who can get nitty gritty for you. Otherwise, these farmers MAY be highly suspect. If you can explain what you’re doing and how you plan to do it they may do it unless it violates some stupid thing. And they may do it even if it violates some stupid thing.

Anyway, PM me if you want and I will ask around. I’m thinking a farming operation is going to be too fast for the project. However, don’t forget about the restaurants on the water who harvest from there. Might get what you need from a place like that.

If you go to their website they have a "contact us" button.

You also may want to call, PVT John Allan (federal) Fish Hatchery in Tupelo, they also have a website. They may have some relevant information.

Barry, I don't know how familiar you are with the Delta area of Mississippi. The whole Delta area is covered in huge catfish farms. Surely, one of those sell what you're looking for as a by-product of their fish business. I don't know how to put you in touch with them, though.
