I actually had a friend whose Dad "rollered" the family station wagon, many years ago before the dawn of the minivan. It actually didn't look bad because it was one of those fake "woody" Ford LTD wagons.

I meant to add that I always check at the recycyling center to see if they have any half decent paint. Over the years I would say that I have saved over $500 by using the free stuff they have there for you to take. Selection sometimes limited, but once in a while you get 3 or 4 gallons of the good stuff. I found cement floor and the varathane/plastic paints are the hardest/rearest to come by.

Back in 1975 my first ex-wife's best friend's father painted her car with a brush and exterior enamel house paint. It looked really, really awful.

Checked your post, and that really does take the cake, but you never actually put out the $. Hey we can go to the car dealer and say the same thing, this is the car I "would" buy you.
I am reminded of my Mum who splits two ply napkins to double the quantity. How about something where you stretch what you pay for?
