Yup, that one was a doozy.Hmmmm. I still remember the huge cascading power outage many years ago affecting many state including MI. Didn’t have power for days
Yup, that was a wonderful year. We were out for two weeks in that October, then we got hit with Hurricane Sandy that same year. Learned a lot about preps that year! First time ever that we cancelled Halloween for the kids.Wind with sheets of heavy rain, some areas with a possible ice storm, from what I'm hearing. Just the heavy wind and rain, here.
Several years ago, a snow storm on Halloween took out an enormous amount of trees surrounding the overhead power lines in this area. Electricity was out for 5 days here, several weeks in part of CT. There are now a lot fewer trees to do such damage.
You are not far from where my home was. Husbands family lives in Caroga Lake and surrounding area.We got 22-24 inches of snow here in the Lake George NY region today and never lost power. Thank the Lord. But 5 hours of snow clearing nearly killed me. Hell getting old..
Where I live, power was out for 5 days. I didn't use my wood stove for several years, and found out that I had about a 7 day supply of wood. I made homemade chicken soup, heated it every day, for 5 days, on the wood stove, and cooled/stored it outside, buried in the snow that I accumulated. The world basically slowed down/stopped, and I enjoyed myself. The only thing that I missed? After 5 days of cleaning up the neighborhood, most neighbors pitching in to drag downed tree limbs to the street edge for city pick-up, I was wanting a hot shower, badly. I think that I learned how the homeless often feel, without bathing for a long time. It's sticky, itchy and gross.Yup, that was a wonderful year. At that time I had a bit of extra funds and decided to take the kids to see the ocean in New Jersey. The day we were suppose to head back to Northern Ontario the power went out. We spent that down time watching from New Jersey that had power. All I could think at the time was....dam I am all prepped up for this and I am thousands of miles away...as I jumped back in to the swimming pool..lolHmmmm. Use them to back feed your house. After a couple days, you’ll end up cold, dark, hungry, and stuck at home.We need to get them more EV's up there. That'll stop them outages.
That's all well and good if it's the time of year when you don't have to worry about the house freezing up and pipes bursting. At that time I had a bit of extra funds and decided to take the kids to see the ocean in New Jersey. Drive back was long and drawn out as each gas station only allowed 10 or 15 in gas
