Portland will have an "official heat wave",from August 10th, weds at noon, to Saturday August 14th around midnight.
Today, the 10th will be 92/68 F.
The 11th will be 103/71, Thursday, 108/73 and Friday the 13th 104/72.
The 13th will also be the day the "new" Multnomah County indoor mask mandate is renewed for well it maybe permanent. I have a little counter for covid on my weather app for Oregon and it is showing around 1,000 cases daily and 5 to 10 deaths. This out of a four million total population.
Kate brown wants to make the multnomah county mandate statewide but the other counties won't go for it.
We had around 80 senior citizens die from the heat in June. They are much more energetic this time around. We shall see.
Sitting in a cooling center wearing a mask will mean the homeless types might not do it. If not, deaths may be as high as June.
I went to whole foods past a restaurant PACKED with maskless outdoor diners. Nope, multnomah county might balk.
