Oxygen saturation help

Looking for some information on any herbal remedies to increase oxygen saturation when sleeping. The doctor first diagnosed me with sleep apnea and tried a cpap machine, which I am sending back because I saw no improvement. He also said based on the pulse/ox reading I have low oxygen saturation at night and prescribed an oxygen machine. Pretty much I have had enough of this BS. I am very into natural remedies and am looking for alternatives. Interestingly enough, I learned today that I can't send the oxygen machine back without the doctors approval. I guess it is not my life afterall. I need to play mother may I.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry, I don't know anything about oxygen saturation--don't go to doctors.

I may have asthma. When my legs and chest hurt, I help my lungs and the pain goes away. Just with teas from the grocery store for now. Herba-Tussin or something like that was good, but I'm out of it. Breathe Easy works well, too.

Breathe Easy: Licorice root, eucalyptus leaf, bitter fennel fruit, bi yan pian, peppermint leaf, calendula flower, pleurisy root, ginger rhizome.

CPAP

Ta-wo-di, it may take several fittings and multiple tries to get the CPAP exactly right. The low oxygen saturation occurs because of the sleep apnea. You stop breathing and your oxygen levels drop. Then your brain kicks in because you are oxygen deprived and it stimulates you to breath again, usually in a gasping fashion. The CPAP machine keeps your airways open and unobstructed so that you don't have apnea. Ideally, they did an overnight oximeter on you after the CPAP was initiated to demonstrate that you no longer have low saturations.

Don't give up on the CPAP quite yet. Sleep apnea and low oxygen saturations can affect your heart rhythms, your blood pressure, etc. It causes your heart to have to work hard.

I AGREE.....DON"T give up on CPAP.....oxygen is life..

I have been on CPAP for almost 15 years. It can be very hard for some people to get used to. The results may not be seen or felt for quite a while. But it will eventually help.

I can't sleep without my CPAP.

There are some online support groups, yahoo e-mail groups that may help you. I would post a link here, but I'm not sure if it's allowed.

Give it another chance. Try a different mask system. Work with your Dr. or therapist till ya get it right, but don't give up. It's too important.

I just saw where they had a minor surgery now that will help most people with sleep apnea...they put something in the palate of the mouth that keeps the problem under control. It is supposed to be an outpatient proceedure and relatively simple. If it would help, it would sure beat the alternatives.
