Heard a great question the other day asked to a public official regarding this issue. The Police Chief was asked if he supported Neighborhood Watch programs and Community based policing policies of observation and non-interventional reporting of criminal activity. He replied, "Yes, it has been proven over and over again that those programs have a direct effect on decreasing the incidence of criminal activity as long as credence is given to those reports and officers are dispatched immediately." The caller then asked, "So why then are ou opposed to groups like the MinuteMan organization that use the same tactics of observation and non-interventional reporting along the borders?"
