WTF?!? No charges after bodies of 4 babies ‘frozen solid’ found stored in mother’s freezer ‘in shoe boxes covered in tin foil’

More than two years after police found the bodies of four infants — two boys and two girls — tucked inside a freezer within a home in Boston, Massachusetts, a district attorney has announced there will be no charges filed.

According to a case report from Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, police responded to a home on East Broadway in south Boston on Nov. 17, 2022, about a “possible baby located inside a freezer.”

It wasn’t until officers arrived that they learned there was not one dead baby inside the freezer — there were four.

“All four were frozen solid,” Hayden said. “All four were found in shoe boxes covered in tin foil. Two were male and two were female. All of the babies were full term, which means they were determined to be between 37 and 40 weeks of gestational age. All four had their umbilical cords attached and the two females had their placentas attached.”

DNA tests determined the children were full-fledged siblings.

There was no “scientific method to determine how long the babies had been frozen,” however, the statement said. An autopsy showed zero signs of internal or external trauma nor “evidence of obvious injuries.”

The children’s stomachs were empty, or at least, appeared to be, according to investigators. There was no sign of food, milk, or formula, Hayden said, adding that the final cause of death was “undetermined.”

Investigators and medical examiners were not even able to prove definitively whether the children had been born alive or were stillborn.

Police said the owner of the apartment was Alexis Aldamir, a 69-year0old woman who moved from Maryland to Massachusetts in the early 1970s while she was 17 years old. She lived in Amherst first before moving to Boston in 1979 and records show that in 1983, she purchased the apartment where the children were ultimately found in 1983. Aldamir did provide a DNA sample to investigators after police located her in a residential health care facility and obtained a court order.

Aldamir is the mother of the four babies, Hayden said.

“Co-workers who spoke with investigators described Alexis Aldamir as a hard worker who rarely took vacations. They also said she was a heavy-set woman who had a penchant for wearing loose-fitting clothing regardless of the season,” the case report noted.

No one ever mentioned Aldamir being pregnant, however.

Further DNA evidence concluded that the father of the infants died sometime in 2011. A court order secured last June helped police uncover that bit of evidence before later learning that Aldamir did give birth to a baby girl in April 1982. The father’s name was not listed on the birth certificate but there were two parental rights surrender forms located at a later point.

They were signed by the infant’s father.

Ultimately, investigators learned the Maryland native and Massachusetts transplant ended up having a total of five children with that same man and giving one up for adoption.

“The other four were found in Aldamir’s apartment in November 2022,” the case report states.

Proving the fact that a crime had been committed was where “investigators encountered several challenges,” according to the district attorney’s office. In order to prove a homicide, for example, it must be proven that the victim was alive to begin with, and there must also be a cause of death determined by a medical examiner. Since investigators could not prove the babies were ever alive and since they have no cause or manner of death listed, the police were stymied.

This combined with the autopsy reports indicating no internal or external trauma or injury and the fact that the baby’s father is dead precluded further action.

Aldamir is also unfit for trial. She was questioned about the babies found in her apartment when police tracked her down at a rest home.

“Aldamir appeared confused and demonstrated a lack of understanding about where she was and who was speaking to. As a result, she was unable to provide investigators with any significant information,” the case report states.

A probate lawyer also confirmed Aldamir would be almost certainly unable to stand trial due to her state.

“A prosecutor’s office cannot ethically move forward with a case that, in good faith, it believes it cannot bring to trial,” Hayden’s case report concluded. “Here, based on the evidence obtained through the investigation, including the many unanswered questions about the cause of death of the four babies, prosecutors have made the determination that they will not be able to bring this case to trial. Therefore, this investigation will not result in criminal charges.”

In a statement this week, Hayden called the case “the most complex, unusual and perplexing” one it had ever encountered.

“While we may have some answers, there are many elements of this case that will likely never be answered,” Hayden said.

I guess it makes sense that there are no charges if she is completely off the rails mentally now, and the father who could have been complicit is dead.

Yeah, lots of questions about how this happened, but also about the investigation and the reporting.

I'm shocked that someone could do what she did. I'm also shocked that they have many unanswered questions about the death of the babies, but they can't prove they were ever alive?????? Huh?????

The damage caused by long term freezing apparently made it impossible to see if the lungs ever expanded... so no proof the baby ever took a breath. So, they *could have been * stillborn, and there's nothing they can prove, except possibly "abuse of a corpse".

It may well have been "abortion after the fact"... it wouldn't take much to smother an infant right after birth. But only Aldamir and God know...

True. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of "abortion is fine because they're not alive until born". Those babies *were* alive for about nine months, even if stillborn!

I want to assume that it was mental illness, not cruelty, that caused her to freeze her babies. Somehow that was better to her than burial? Still, so very sad and weird at so many levels.

Pretty clear cut- four cases of murder, gross incompetence of the legal profession, and proof positive that our society has failed it’s most vulnerable lives… Those guilty should be tried, convicted, and executed- with no appeal, and no delay.

Yes, that includes corrupt, incompetent cops and judges, as well…

"Mommy" is, at this point, pushing 70 and in a nursing home exhibiting signs of Alzheimers/dementia. The prosecutors' office considers her unfit to stand trial, because she couldn't understand what the investigators who were questioning her were there for.

As horrific as this likely is….ripping an unborn child limb from limb seems even worse to me….and tens of millions are just fine with this murder.

I hope her last born child is with an excellent family and protected from all harm by both her birth mother and birth father’s families.

Last born may be an adult now. Imagine living with the knowledge of what "Mommy" had done.

One might count themselves "lucky."

Severely mentally ill or criminally insane. Nobody in their right mind could freeze one baby after another and casually stick them in the freezer next to your frozen vegetables and continue to live there year after year. Twilight Zone episode material.
