"Life In The UK Is Becoming Completely Unlivable" - Brexiteer Farage Is Being Systemically Un-Banked | ZeroHedge

FRIDAY, JUN 30, 2023 - 01:11 PM

Despite winning the "news presenter of the year" award, Nigel Farage has mixed feelings this week.

In the following clip, he reveals his concern about a recent development that may significantly impact his future career and even his ability to live in the UK.

[go to original site to see clip -- article here includes full transcript]

The Brexit-provocateur shares his experience of having his bank accounts abruptly closed by a major banking group, without a valid reason provided.

Worse still, he discloses his attempts to open new accounts with several other banks, all of which have been unsuccessful so far.

Farage speculates on three possible reasons for his inability to secure a bank account:

  1. the EU's definition of a politically exposed person (PEP),
  2. prejudice from corporate institutions, and
  3. false allegations made by a member of Parliament regarding funds from the Russian government.

If they can do it to him, do you have any doubt that you are at risk?

Watch the full Farage address below:

The establishment are trying to force me out of the UK by closing my bank accounts.

I have been given no explanation or recourse as to why this is happening to me.

This is serious political persecution at the very highest level of our system.

If they can do it to me, they… pic.twitter.com/O4xQ1h79ub

Hello there.

Now you would think in the light of this that I'd be pretty happy - I mean, you know, 'news presenter of the year' award was pretty cool and a massive thanks to all of those people out there that voted for me.

The establishment were of course appalled because they in their little London bubble think that I'm incredibly unpopular.

Well in Notting Hill I might be maybe, not quite so in the rest of the country.

But actually truth is, I'm not full of the joys of spring.

I've been living with something for the last couple of months that may well fundamentally affect my future career going on from here, and whether I could even stay living in this country.

I have been with the same banking group since 1980. I've had my personal accounts with them since that date and my business accounts right through the 1990s when I worked in the city of London, and in recent years too, and with one of the subsidiaries of this big banking group - one with a very prestigious name.

But I won't name them just yet.

I got a phone call a couple of months ago to say we are closing your accounts.

I asked why - no reason was given. I was told a letter would come which would explain everything. The letter came through and simply said we are closing your accounts - we want to finish it all by a date which is around about now.

I didn't quite know what to make of it. I complained. I emailed the chairman. A Lackey phoned me to say that it was a commercial decision - which I have to say I don't believe for a single moment.

So I thought well there we are, I'll have to go and find a different bank.

I've been to six, uh no seven, banks actually and asked them all could I have a personal and a business account and the answer has been no in every single case.

There is nothing irregular or unusual about what I do - the payments that go in and come out every month are pretty much the same. I maintain in my business account quite a big positive cash balance, which I guess with interest rates where they are is pretty good for the bank too.

So why is this happening to me?

Well one explanation is this - a few years ago the European Union came up with a definition of somebody called a 'PEP' -a 'politically exposed person'.

Now this could range from anybody from a prime minister down to a local councilor. I think the reason for it was, you know, 'were people in politics open to bribery', 'could foreign governments from Ukraine or China or wherever else it may be, could they be pumping money into the, you know, the accounts of corrupt politicians'.

So I kind of understand that and get that.

But it's all about interpretation isn't it - and what the banks argue is that to maintain an account for a politically exposed person gives them increased costs of compliance.

Now I have spoken to the city minister in this country and there is some hope that this EU definition - which came into British law - may be moderated in some way, we'll will have to see.

But, of course, any bank, any organization, can choose to interpret a 'PEP' and whether they want the account in any way they choose.

To my knowledge, I don't think anybody has been treated like me in the world of politics.

But then the banks you see themselves are part of the big corporate structures in this country - these are the organizations who did not want Brexit to happen and I think in my case probably the corporate world will never ever forgive me because they know if I hadn't done what I did with the help of thousands of people in our People's Army that never would have been a referendum let alone a victory.

I'm the one that is to carry the blame.

So that's the second possible reason why I can't get a bank account - Prejudice that comes from our institutions.

But I think there's a third reason.

A few months ago in the House of Commons Sir Chris Bryant, chairman of the Privileges committee, said using parliamentary privilege that I had received large sums of money directly from the Russian government, and he named the calendar year in which it had happened.

Truth is, I didn't receive a penny from any source with even any link to Russia. And yet because he said it it stands.

I wrote to the speaker, I demanded an apology, nothing has been forthcoming from Sir Chris Brown.

Well I wonder whether that is what's given me part of the problem.

I have employed a top firm of London lawyers. I'm going through a series of subject access requests to find out what is held on me by the international agencies and by the bank that wants to close me down.

But think about it - without a bank account you effectively become a non-person. You don't actually exist. It's like the worst regimes of the mid 20th century - be they in Russia or Germany - you literally become a non-person.

And you don't anymore - you did in the past - but you don't anymore actually have a right to be entitled to a bank account.

Now there is a possibility through a fintech company that I could find some means of receiving and paying money - which could be a little bit of a Lifeline. But it's not a bank account because I won't be able to earn any interest on positive cash balances, I won't be able to borrow money if I need to at any point, or take out a mortgage should I so desire - that will be completely denied to me.

I won't be able to have a debit card linked directly to my account. I won't really be able to exist and function in a modern 21st century Britain.

So I will tell you more about this on GB news at seven o'clock tonight as to what my decision is but I'm beginning to think that perhaps life in the United Kingdom is now becoming completely unlivable because of the levels of prejudice against me. I'll give you more of my thoughts at seven o'clock tonight on GB news.

While I support the bakeries and website designers who have the right to refuse service to LGBTQ etc., I think we conservatives have to be prepared for the same.

Apparently these banks reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

Yes, I understand this is the UK and not the US, but I do believe that we will see, and have already seen,
Leftist companies refusing services for people on the right, in the US.

This is one reason why I keep my opinions to myself and don't post on social media.
At some point, people will have to decide, though, regardless of what one posts on the Internet. A look at Revelation says it. People are going to have to WILLINGLY choose here. The end goal is to force Christians to worship Satan. In between is a lot of things like ESG and real Christians will not be able to buy or sell anything.

Farage 'Banking Ban' Sparks UK Govt Probe Of Blacklisting Accounts Over Political Views

BY TYLER DURDEN
TUESDAY, JUL 04, 2023 - 09:40 AM
Days after Brexiteer Nigel Farage told the world about his experience of having his bank accounts abruptly closed by a major banking group, without a valid reason provided, The FT reports that Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has said the government will take action over banks blacklisting customers who hold controversial views.
As we detailed at the time, Farage claimed that:
“The establishment are trying to force me out of the UK by closing my bank accounts,” adding, "this is serious political persecution at the very highest level of our system.”

And he cited 3 potential reasons for his apparent blanket ban...

  1. the EU's definition of a politically exposed person (PEP),
  2. prejudice from corporate institutions, and
  3. false allegations made by a member of Parliament regarding funds from the Russian government.
Warning that anyone in Britain could be next, Farage told The Mail this week:

"The banking industry in the UK has become politicised. We are going down a road where anybody in Britain could say something on Facebook or Twitter that a bank doesn’t like and lose their accounts."

In response, Chancellor Hunt has asked City minister Andrew Griffith to investigate the practice of lenders closing down the accounts of individuals or companies whose views they disagree with.

“Banks and payment providers occupy a privileged place in society and it would be a concern if financial services were being denied to those exercising the right to lawful free speech,Griffith told the Financial Times.

The Treasury opened a consultation into the matter earlier this year after rightwing commentator and journalist Toby Young complained that the Free Speech Union group he founded had its PayPal account frozen last September.

PayPal did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rather notably - given Farage's comments - ministers also want to reform the regime monitoring “politically exposed persons” (PEPs) to ensure it has not been applied too heavily.

Politicians classified as a PEP are subject to tighter controls by banks to guarantee they comply with the law.

Finally, as we noted at the time of Farage's comments, if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone with a 'view' that is not 'acceptable'. As he concluded:

"I'm beginning to think that perhaps life in the United Kingdom is now becoming completely unlivable because of the levels of prejudice against me."
We wonder just how much of this 'shock, horror' from the establishment that 'deplatforming' of people like Farage is going?

Nevertheless, British PM Sunak's official spokesman said today:

"As you've seen from over the weekend, the Chancellor is concerned by some of the reports. Free speech within the law and the legitimate expression of differing views is an important part of British liberty."
"The Treasury is running a call for evidence already to assess if the current framework strikes the right balance between the rights of a bank customer to express themselves freely and the right of a bank to manage commercial risk. They're going to report back soon."
The results of a government consultation on the subject is due to be published in the coming weeks... and then we will see if this is all just bluster.

A Treasury source told the Daily Telegraph: "It is absolutely a concern. No one should have their bank account denied on the grounds of freedom of expression. We expect to take action on this issue within weeks."

You paint any people group with a broad brush and you go down that same tired old road again. Gotta have a people group to scapegoat and take out your frustrations on. A lot of poor downtrodden Jews that are not a part of the big club same as other people groups.

No, "the system" is run by Jewish bankers and those sympathetic to their cause. They are mostly communist in philosophy. I am a Jew. I know what's going on. You might believe all the pro-Jewish propaganda, since it's been hyper-promoted in mainstream media, history books, Hollywood and public education. I don't fault you for being misinformed. It's hard to remain unbiased when the entire world is pushing pro-Jewish narratives and demonizing anyone who disagrees as a "Nazi". I fault those corrupt Jews in these industries for deceiving the majority of the populace. I don't blame the ignorant.

None of the things you cite inform my opinion. There is one Book however which does. Do you know the phrase the "time of Jacob's trouble?" That time barrels down upon you inexorably. Satan has most enthralled with his lies. In fact almost all. Don't fall for it. There are wicked people in every group who have sold their souls to the father of lies.

We need to make sure that we are not in that number!

(Sorry for the drift!)

The issue you raised is kind of off-topic, but I'll address it here one time. The time of Jacob's trouble already happened - it was the complete destruction of the Temple around AD 70 and the utter devastation upon the Jews in Jerusalem at that time. The upcoming "tribulation period" is going to be a repeat of that (dual fulfillment of prophecy), but the next time will a persecution of the real Jews (spiritual Jews) or those people who have accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour. God is done with physical Jews (Jews by blood). Romans 2:28-29 "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

The physical Jews in charge of the New World Order are the children of the devil. Jesus reminded the Jews of this in John, saying to them, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do." We who are saved are the real Jews-- Jews born again of the Spirit. Personally, as a Jew by blood, I came to the realization that my brethren according to the flesh (Jews) have rejected their Messiah, and only by accepting the Messiah can Jews or Gentiles be saved from the wrath to come. So I turned to Christ and accepted the free gift of eternal life he offers to all (not by the works of the law). But the vast majority of physical Jews will never accept Christ, just like the vast majority of Gentiles will never accept Christ. So again, born-again believers will definitely be in the small minority, and easy to persecute.

So, to bring this somewhat back on topic, these Jewish bankers who run the world are indeed the children of their father -- the devil. And Satan is indeed behind it all. But because of the corporate/media/educational/entertainment propaganda foisted upon the public over the years, "reality" has been turned upon it's head-- and now most people believe that the children of Satan (physical Jews who reject Christ) are actually the "true" people of God. They are not. We who are saved are the true children of God, whether we be Jew or Gentile.

So, one must realize that the Jewish bankers making Nigel Farage an "unperson" is exactly what I'm talking about here - it's the children of Satan coming down hard upon anyone who disagrees with their narrative. Sometimes, you just have to step back and consider that many things you thought you knew are, in fact, not true at all.

Understanding the true nature of "The Deception" is key to surviving that which is to come, both physically and spiritually. That's all I say for now - I have no desire to get into a theological argument with anyone.

If you want an understanding of where all this persecution is headed, watch "Marching to Zion", a documentary here:

So now Nigel Farage has been turned away by nine banks. Excuses for refuging his business range from not meeting the bank's "wealth threshold" to him being a "PEP" Politically Exposed Person.

Farage is not alone in being de-banked. The practice is spreading to other conservatives being targeted by banks. It appears to be happening in the US with reports of JP Morgan and Chase cancelling the accounts of conservative religious groups.

The video also highlights a parallel banking system for conservatives in the US is beginning to emerge. Dennis predicted this a while back. It's happening.

Not yet, but they're trying. I'm sure there's a certain Baltic country that could solve the problem in less than an hour if he was willing to abide by their terms. In the mean time he's busy exposing the issue to the world. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Will a "social credit score" be required for future financing or will people be force to go the conservative Amish route? There are options and they will be employee if needed. IMO the more those options are employed the less powerful the banks will become.

Bank’s reasons for booting Nigel Farage revealed

18 Jul, 2023 19:30

Coutts told the UKIP founder his account was closed for financial reasons, but an internal document says otherwise

UK bank Coutts dropped British politician Nigel Farage as a customer not because his accounts contained insufficient funds but because his social and political views were incompatible with its “values,” according to a 40-page dossier compiled by the bank and seen by the UK Telegraph on Tuesday.

While admitting “there is no evidence of regulator or legal censure of [Farage],” the document concluded Farage was no longer “compatible with Coutts given his publicly-stated views that were at odds with our position as an inclusive organization.”

“This was not a political decision, but one centered around inclusivity and purpose,” the file stated, recommending the UKIP founder be put on a “glide path” to debanking as soon as his mortgage deal concluded – even though he was described as “professional, polite and respectful” in his dealings with Coutts.

While searching for a legitimate reason to drop him, Coutts apparently tried to leverage Farage’s “Russian connections,” only to find he did not have any. The file discussed his appearances on RT, where he was last a guest in 2017, alongside a claim about receiving payment from the Russian network that the bank admitted was bogus, and lamented that his comments about the conflict in Ukraine “fall short of endorsement” of the Russian position.

The bank ultimately settled on reputational risk. Farage “presents a material and ongoing reputational risk to the bank” as he is “regularly (almost constantly) the subject of adverse media,” the document explained, citing dozens of unfavorable news articles, including many from partisan sources like Hope Not Hate and Labour Movement for Europe.

The populist “is seen as xenophobic and racist” and a “disingenuous grifter” who promotes values that “do not align with the bank’s,” the dossier stated, referring to comments that were “distasteful and appear increasingly out of touch with wider society,” reportedly including tweets expressing his belief that the UK should leave the European Convention on Human Rights. His friendships with former US president Donald Trump and Serbian tennis champion Novak Djokovic were also brought up as liabilities.

When Farage revealed last month that Coutts had closed his account without giving a reason, the bank claimed his balance had fallen below the minimum amount required to maintain an account. The dossier, which he obtained through a subject access request, thoroughly contradicts the bank’s statement, explaining that his “economic contribution is now sufficient to retain on a commercial basis.”

Farage described the file to the Telegraph as a “Stasi-style surveillance report” that “reads rather like a pre-trial brief drawn up by the prosecution in a case against a career criminal,” noting the word “Brexit” appears 86 times and that Coutts found no fault with him before Brexit became an issue in 2016.

It was in fact a political decision despite the BS the bank was spewing.

Minister Summons Bank Bosses Over Nigel Farage Account Closure

Authored by Alexander Zhang via The Epoch Times,

Bank chiefs have been summoned for a meeting with Treasury ministers to discuss how customers can be protected from “being de-banked” after Nigel Farage accused Coutts of closing his account due to his political views.

The former UK Independence Party leader claimed earlier this month that the prestigious bank he had been with for over 40 years has closed his account with “no explanation.”

Last week, Mr. Farage released dossiers he had acquired from the bank, which indicated that Coutts shut his bank account because it found his public statements did “not align” with its values.

City Minister Andrew Griffith is expected to write to the chief executives of 19 banks, building societies, and digital challengers on Monday, warning that regulations around “politically exposed persons” (PEP) are “being applied in a disproportionate manner by some financial institutions.”

He said the government will “take all action necessary” to protect customers from such practices.

‘Fundamental Right’

Mr. Griffith says in the letter: “You will be aware of recent publicity around allegations of client de-banking in recent weeks and months.
“This has raised significant concern in both Houses of Parliament, including throughout the passage of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2023, and in recent days.”
The minister said the government is “unequivocal” that banks and other payment service providers “should not be terminating contracts of payment account facilities on grounds relating to users’ exercising of their right to lawful freedom of expression.”

He said the government “strongly supports this fundamental right afforded to all people in British society and will take the action necessary to protect it.”

Mr. Griffith added, “I am calling a roundtable at the earliest opportunity to hear your views on how you and your firms will ensure that customers can access payment accounts without fear of being de-banked for their lawful expression, and necessary actions to be taken to implement the reforms announced.”

The letter is to be sent to NatWest, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC, Nationwide Building Society, Santander, Virgin Money, and Co-operative Bank.

Other chief executives expected to receive the invite include those at TSB, Metro, Allied Irish, Danske Bank, and Bank of Ireland, while the heads of digital finance outfits at Monzo, Starling, Chase, PayPal, Revolut, and Wise will also be called to the Treasury.

‘Deeply Inappropriate’

Last week, Mr. Farage released pages of documents in the Daily Mail that he obtained after he made a subject access request to his former bank Coutts.

The document mentioned that he reshared a tweet by the comedian Ricky Gervais mocking transgenderism, which the document called “a transphobic comedy sketch.”

His support for former U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as his views on immigration, net zero, and the COVID-19 vaccine, were also listed as reasons to exit him.

The document said that Mr. Farage is “xenophobic and racist” and that his views “were at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation.”

The bank’s behaviour has been condemned by senior Tories, including Home Secretary Suella Braverman, Net Zero Minister Grant Shapps, and former minister David Davis.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wrote on Twitter: “This is wrong. No one should be barred from using basic services for their political views. Free speech is the cornerstone of our democracy.”

Alison Rose, chief executive of NatWest Group, of which Coutts is part of the wealth management division, wrote to Mr. Farage to apologise for “deeply inappropriate comments” made about him in official documents, which she said, “do not reflect the view of the bank.”

“No individual should have to read such comments and I apologise to Mr. Farage for this. I have written to him today to make that apology and reiterate our offer of alternative banking arrangements,” she added.
