SHOCK REPORT: ⚠️ Newly-discovered 50-mile fault line in Canada could cause MASSIVE TSUNAMI in northwestern US if it ruptures..

More than a million residents in the northeastern United States are potentially at risk from a tsunami triggered by a recently identified fault line.

Researchers have uncovered a fault approximately 45 miles in length, situated within British Columbia, Canada, that remained unnoticed for thousands of years.

Specialists believe the specific configuration of this fault may lead to a significant earthquake in Canada.

The impact of the earthquake has the potential to create a tsunami within the Georgia Basin region, affecting areas in both Washington and British Columbia.

This finding was part of research conducted by a team that features Nick Harrichhausen, who is serving as a postdoctoral researcher at Université Grenoble Alpes in France.

"They" have been aware that the the PNW region is a kill zone...

Seattle and Portland were beautiful booming cities.... intentionally destroyed.... insane policies that pulled the dregs from all over the nation like moths to a flame.... and pushed the intelligent skilled knowledge workers inland....

The Pacific NW coastal cities are a garbage disposal to get rid of the vermin!

The west coast is toxic toast two states in, afaic
..kinda sucks, as I'd hoped to retire out west/return to Idaho, but, whatcha gonna do.

eh man.
To be faire, they sorta-kinda made up fer their milque-toastie-mendacity by spreading teh doomie-goodness clear across the continent from one coast to the other! : /

What PNW coastal cities would those be? Vancouver (British Columbia), Seattle, and Portland aren't Pacific Ocean coastal cities. As far as I know new research suggests that Seattle and Vancouver (actually on the open water. whereas Portland is many miles up the Columbia River) aren't as vulnerable to a Cascadia Subduction Zone tsunami as previously thought. At least not in the sense that a tsunami would wash away large city sections.

As for the fault in question to cause a tsunami, from what I understand strike-slip faults typically don't cause tsunamis (unless they trigger a landslide into the water or an underwater landslide) and I doubt anything inside the Puget Sound is a subduction zone fault. It's subduction zone faults that most often cause the really massive tsunamis around the world.

Lots of the research that aligns with the "orphan tsunami" logged in Japan from the last Cascadian event indicates that the Cascadia volcanoes pop along with Ol' Juan.

From the daily mail.. this week!
"Scientists have detected a 'great swarm' of earthquakes off the coast of Washington clocking as many as 200 in a single hour during one day.

Geologists at the University of Washington said the quakes could lead to the Juan de Ruca Ridge erupting within a few weeks or years - but the effects are believed to be mild and not likely impact anyone on land."

I'm sure everything is fine.... although they said erupt.. not an earthquake but an eruption.... with "mild effects", just like safe and effective vaccine double speak.....I concur that everything is fine and all junkies, thieves and other sundry Leftist should remain in place..

Underwater volcano off northwestern US could BLOW in weeks - as 300m-long stretch is hit with 'great swarm' of earthquakes

Scientists have detected a 'great swarm' of earthquakes off the coast of Washington clocking as many as 200 in a single hour during one day.

Geologists at the University of Washington said the quakes could lead to the Juan de Ruca Ridge erupting within a few weeks or years - but the effects are believed to be mild and not likely impact anyone on land.

The underwater volcano sits more than 16,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean and about 150 miles off the coast of Washington.

With more than a thousand tiny quakes detected in one day, this is the most activity detected at the site since 2005 - and researchers said the volcano could soon erupt.

If an earthquake at this newly discovered fault line pushes up the seafloor of Haro Strait, it could displace enough water to cause a tsunami in the surrounding Georgia Basin

The team said data collected when the volcano erupts could reveal how Earth's crust formed over time by cooled magma - but noted that could happen in a few weeks of few years from now.

On March 6, the group's real-time monitoring network detected the earthquakes, which registered a 4.1 magnitude - relatively mild compared to famous damaging quakes like the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 which registered a 7.9 magnitude.

That quake and the city-leveling fires it touched off killed about 3,000 people.

The 'great swarm' of earthquakes followed multiple days of increasingly frequent quakes, according to Ocean Networks Canada (ONC), which is collecting the data for researchers to study.

The spike indicated a possible 'impending magmatic rupture,' the research group reported.

A magmatic rupture, which occurs when the Earth's crust splits open for some reason and spills molten rock out, is a natural phenomena that can form new ocean floor, according to Zoe Krauss, a marine seismology PhD candidate at the University of Washington.

I'd be interested to see your list of PNW Cascade volcanoes that erupted in 1700, the date of the PNW megaquake that is linked to the orphan tsunami in Japan which led to the research on the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Which is not to downplay the risk from PNW vocanoes. Heck, I think Mount Hood was smokin' when the white settlers arrived in the area.

This could be weather changer if it does blow.

It was as were a couple of neighboring volcanoes.

Oh great!
I just moved from directly ON the Tacoma fault line,
To being directly in front of a likely MEGA-TSUNAMI !
I can sure pick 'em can't I. ( places to live):bhd::shk::hlp:
I need to reread my sig to be encouraged!

Tsunami waves as high as 42 feet could crash into Seattle within minutes of an earthquake on Seattle Fault, study finds

By Li Cohen
July 11, 2022 / 8:12 AM EDT / CBS News

A single earthquake in Seattle could cause a catastrophic situation for the northwest corner of the (W Washington) state, a new report from Washington's Department of Natural Resources found.
The study was focused on the Seattle Fault, located beneath the Puget Sound and the city of Seattle. Researchers developed modeling scenarios based on the impacts of the last tsunami-triggering earthquake in the region, which occurred about 1,100 years ago. That earthquake on the fault is believed to have been between a 7.0 and 7.5 magnitude event and researchers said in their report that it may have been the only large earthquake on the fault within the past 16,000 years.

However, they said, "the fault is still active and is capable of generating similar tsunamigenic earthquakes today."

Hilary Franz, commissioner of public lands, said, "the impacts could be massive."
"Most often, when we think of tsunamis, we think of our outer coast and communities along the Pacific Ocean," she said. "But there's a long history of earthquakes on faults in the Puget Sound."

Tsunami wave simulation for Seattle–Bainbridge Island, Wash. by Washington State Department of Natural Resources on YouTube
If a roughly 7.5 magnitude quake were to happen on the fault line today, simulations show that tsunami waves would travel through the Puget Sound, Rosario Strait and the Strait of Georgia. It would impact the shoreline from the Canadian border to Olympia within 1 to 2 hours.
Within just 3 minutes, the first tsunami wave would hit the greater Seattle area, according to the simulations. Waves could last more than 3 hours and the department said that they could be as high as 42 feet at the iconic Seattle Great Wheel. Waves could overtake Lumen Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks, and in some areas of impact, waves could travel up to three miles inland.

The department conducted the study as part of the state's efforts to create tsunami response and preparedness plans. More than 760,000 people live in Seattle, Washington's most populated city.

Researchers said the most recent earthquake that hit the area was so massive that it pushed a beach on Bainbridge Island upward by 23 feet while also dropping land at Seattle's West Point by 3 feet. The next earthquake could create a new shoreline, they added.
"Although the chances of this happening in our lifetime is low, it's important for families to get prepared now," Maximilian Dixon, hazards and outreach program supervisor for the Washington Emergency Management Division, said in a statement. "The ground shaking will be your warning that a tsunami may be on the way. Make sure you know where the closest high ground is and the quickest route to get there. Get signed up for tsunami and local alerts."
