Mower runs rough / no power

So, it is lawn mowing time again. When I put my mower away last year, it worked fine. I drained it of fuel before putting it away for the winter.

I tuned it up this weekend - changed the oil, air filter, spark plug, set the valves, and disassembled and cleaned the carburetor. The gas I put in it is new gas.

But, the mower runs roughly and weakly. I figured I must have botched something in the tune-up, but I have triple checked my work now and everything looks fine.

So, what have I missed?

fuel filter or plug wire is about all I can suggest.

Yeah, make sure that there isn't a cut in the plug wire.
Does it run better or worse as it gets hot or warmed up?
Or does it run the same?

Go back and recheck everything......I had to do that 3 or 4 times on my recent project to find the problem.

Go figure. I replaced the brand new spark plug with the old spark plug and it works fine now.

Always something simple....good for you.....u figured it out.

U can clean that sparkplug up.....and it will be good again.
