Probably need one of these Bug out bags if there is any chance you will need to go to the Emergency Room on any given weekend.

An excellent idea in the OP. DH had surgery a few years ago and initially I was unprepared. particularly after a trip to ER when he was admitted. I got caught with no phone charger, a nice nurse loaned me hers to get my phone charged.

After that I kept a bag packed, although by now it is woefully insufficient, I need to take care of that, particularly since we are older now.

Things not to bring: large amounts of cash, credit or debit cards, lots of clothing, a laptop (unless absolutely necessary) , anything expensive, common medications. The hospital should provide meds unless they are really unusual, like anti rejection drugs or chemo. If you bring them, being them In their original bottles.

Stuff can and does get stolen out of hospital rooms while you are sleeping or out of the room.

I keep a toiletry bag packed with basics. I have an index card listing other essentials to grab. But now I think I need to pack another small grab and go including some of the items on that card and some bottled water and snacks.
I have had to leave suddenly to go out of town for family emergencies and my short list of what to take helped.

We've always kept an emergency hospital bag in our main vehicle. My mom started that practice when I was young, and I continued it after Cary and I were married. With all the health problems we have, it's even more important for us to have one. Both of us know better than to leave a person at the hospital alone. We are advocates for each other, and it keeps our belongings from being stolen.

Small backpack in all rigs. Contains clean shirt, socks and undies along with toiletries and backup makeup. Bit of cash and gift card with no expiration. Backup chargers, pen and notebook and a paperback novel. OTC meds are changed out on regular basis.

I purchased a couple of the 6 foot USB cables. Love them.

The Anker brand, with the "braided" exterior seem the most durable cable I have found, and are by far the best ones I've tested. I've been using them for many years, and some of the cables I am currently using were bought back in 2016 - 2017.

The brand Anker has a warranty (18 months for most of the cables), and I've used it a few times and they have honored it. Make sure you buy it from "Anker Direct" and not some 3rd party. I've seen people that replace their cables constantly, and although these cost more than the cheap ones, I feel they are worth it.

Although these are Type C to C, they make Type A to just about everything.

They also have some 10ft cables.
