The head of New York City's public transit system is advising anyone with health issues to avoid taking the subway, if they can.
Metropolitan Transit Authority Chairman and CEO Patrick Foye gave this advice to riders experiencing symptoms like fever or respiratory issues and those who have compromised immunity or other serious health issues:
"If you can get around without riding the subway, do it.”
At a news conference today, he insisted "the subways remain safe."
"That being said, if you experience symptoms like fever or respiratory issues or have compromised immunity, or other serious health issues, it’s good advice always, to avoid large crowds," he added.
The authority's full fleet is being disinfected every 72 hours, Foye said. All stations and transit centers are being disinfected daily.

The oil fight between Saudi Arabia and Russia.
While that may be technically correct I'd think it still a bit misleading. The Saudi - Russian thing has to do with the lack of agreement on production quotas given falling oil demand globally, correct? Russia wouldn't curb production so Saudi Arabia went into "damn the torpedo's" mode and said they'd slash price and ramp up production. But demand is low and price had already been falling in large part to China's massive quarantine zones from the virus. So the markets fall is at least indirectly related to the virus because the oil issue has been directly tied to it. Rush knows this.

That is it in a nutshell. The people in the U.S. currently that have it and are hospitalized are getting the best of care with teams of doctors, nurses and support staff to keep them alive. Unfortunately 17 have already died. What happens when the ICU beds are all used up and there are no vents available or other things to keep you breathing while your body tries to heal itself? Look at what is happening in Italy right now. They are several progressions of the virus ahead of us.

Just maybe your math equation doesn't include all the needed elements, in which case it would be flawed. Everyone knows they are not reporting the known cases correctly, heck they aren't even testing all of the suspected cases... So maybe right now 10,000 people been infected, or maybe 100,000... No one knows and no one can argue that. If you use 10k or 100k as the dividing number now your death rate is at or below the flu threshold. At least disclaim your facts when they are not complete.
Once again I'm not saying the virus can't become the worst thing ever, but the data isn't supporting it at this time. My opinion is not popular because everyone seems to want the gloom and doom side only...This thread is why medical papers have to be peer reviewed before being published, to make sure all the facts support the outcome.
I don't want to fight, don't want to argue, I'm certainly not trying to belittle anyone, I just want to open eyes to look at all sides before making a final decision.

It's quite confusing because we hear it's nothing, no worse than the flu and hopefully as they test more people we will find out that it's really not much worse. But I keep going back to why are they reacting the way they are?
I no longer trust what they say only watching what they do. And they have never behaved this way before so I have to assume it's so bad they just simply can't tell the truth.

I'm Italian, let me traduce: Good evening, everyone. I came to make this video for Italy's good, for Naples good, yesterday my sister died. Probably for COVID-19's Virus, I'm waiting for answers from the institutions since yesterday evening. Nobody came forward, this video it's very rough, please don't let children see this. I'm forced with all my pain to fight this situation, i have my sister in the bed - dead. I don't know what to do, I can't give her the respects she deserves. Because the institutions abandoned me, I've contacted everyone, I won't say who at the moment, Nobody could give me an answer. I'm waiting for the answer from the 118 (Ambulance, 911..)
Yesterday WITH MY OWN WILL I made her undergo the test for the virus, which THEY didn't want to do. Personally, I was denied the test -they told me that they needed to know first if she was infected, and then maybe they'll do it to me as well. Today I've self-quarantined, I could go everywhere to spread the virus if I have it, because to keep my sister alive i had to do mouth-to-mouth breathing, and NO ONE cared. Nobody, the institutions are NOT calling. The first one TO NOT care was our family's doctor, he didn't come to our home to check on her, my sister had a type of epilepsy, a person prone to sickness, and they did not care. Guys we're screwed, Italy abandoned us. Please let's be strong together and share this video everywhere.

This is the basis of why all of us are watching the virus. We really don't care too much about rates of illness, etc. It is the lock downs, welding of doors and shutting down the trade of the #2 nation in the world. Those tell us more than all the talk, but being people we do like our gossip and talk.

This I can agree with... The data is incomplete, the math won't calculate and the people in charge won't cooperate.... We just have to stay strong and keep our eyes open, look for clues and prepare as if the worse is coming, but hold hope that it will be OK. Nope not at all. I have a brokerage account and it's down 20% today. I have a employer matched 401-K that I can't touch and that took a powder too. So what? I can't do anything about it so why cry in my milk? I only keep enough in the brokerage account for speculations and I was just handed my shirt. And the only thing I could do with my 401-K I did last year when I saw this coming and moved them into treasuries.
I never expected to see a dime from the 401-K and I kissed that away years ago and the only thing I have in the brokerage account are mining stocks as I am not a trader to make 'money' but I would only invest in something I believe in. My savings account is physical gold and silver and I value them in ounces and not dollars.
We've been crying here for years that this whole edifice of debt was going to implode and to try to get out from under it. Some listen and some don't. Just like talking about what this virus is going to do to our medical system in the U.S. and medically fragile and all the shortages that are coming. Some listen and some don't. So is life and it is what it is. I don't rejoice in people losing their holdings in the markets but I can't do anything about it either. And you can bet that the billionaires I referenced have enough smarts to not have all their wealth in bonds/equities. To many of them today's move is a rounding error.
So yeah....pass me another Kleenex
