Our chromosome 2 still has centromere and telemere codons in the middle that show where the 2 chromosomes joined together.
Another tidbit: Some viruses actually end up inserting parts of themselves into our own DNA. If they infect a reproductive cell, that virus code will be passed on to our offspring.
