Life in the People's Paradise of DPRK

A video of a pretty Korean girl heaping praise on the socialist system of the DPRK has gone viral in recent months. Her message is clear: life in her country is a socialist paradise, while in West poverty and chaos are rampant. The young woman, Pak Jin Jun, introduces herself as a student at Pyongyang Teacher's University. Throughout the video, Pak's voiceover praises the Korean socialist system, which guarantees a life of happiness and serenity to all of its residents. Jubilant scenes depict the whole family clapping their hands and singing. A far cry, she tells us, from the misery of the capitalist world that conspires against the great Kim Jong-Il, and where the people kill themselves and die of hunger.

wow, I give a lot of respect to these folks literally putting their lives on the line for freedom.
It is a death sentence in North Korea to be heard voicing it, let alone taking any action, even perceived against their Government...

What strikes me as I was watching a video is that what those folks are being executed for most often is just daring to speak their opinions and desiring freedoms that many people take for granted in our country.

Heavy stuff to watch,

North Korean Soldiers leave Barracks to Search for Food!

No that is not reality IMHO. That's misinformation geared to paint the NK military as impoverished, weak and coming apart. This may be to feign internal unrest as part of the set up for NK invading SK on Russia and China's behalf. The one sector of NK society that is very well provided for is the military, that you can be sure of.

While the propaganda is supposed to show us how little we realize how bad we got it here, the reality shows us how little we realize how good we have it here.

China Connection

TB Fanatic
Even if you travel to a country like China it is still difficult to see how people live and work.

For instance when I arrived in China I spent two months in Nanjing. The foreigners around me all noticed that there were no old people hardly living in the city. So they thought that the Communist Party had done the old folks in at some stage. Anyway I then moved to a place called Fu-ning a fairly poor city. Yep, lots of old people. So once you are old and no longer working there is no point staying in an expensive city.

Now one of my close friends earns about $200 US a month. However his wife works and his parents have a pension. They all live in the same apartment. His grandmother does the cooking. They live cheaply.

Then there are the real poor but they live very, very simple lives. Some work 10 hours a day with two days off a month for $100 US a month. At this level you are just a working machine. Meaning work sleep eat cheaply. No social life more or less.

Now then you have some old people living on small farms on about $10 US a month and a bit of home grown food.

Then you have the poor in North Korea.
