Food lentil burgers

Neither here nor there.
If you have recipes to share, I'd be interested. I used to have a good recipe, lost, and haven't been able to duplicate it.

IIRC there is a free ebook on Amazon for veggie burgers, and loafs. It's been a long time since I downloaded it though so don't remember the name of the book at the moment.

I've never had blue lentils, where did you find yours?
I rarely find them. One stand alone co-op store about 20 mile away, sometimes carries them, maybe every third year.

Now on lentils, I consider "French Blue" and French Green" the same, a small ( larger than black) blue/green spotted lentil.

And "green" or "brown" lentils I consider the same, a large solid colored lentil that can range between greenish brown and brown.

As for the very small black lentils, I never call them "French", rather I call them "(Black) Beluga".

I hope that clears things up.

I've stocked up on lentils, knowing that at .98/lb they are one of very few staples available under $1/lb, here. Others are wheat flour, corn meal, rice, yellow (.88/lb) and green (.96/lb) split peas, and Great Northern (.89/lb) beans. Black beans have just about doubled in price this year, and some other types are approaching $3/lb. As one of very few people who buys dry beans in my area (excluding the markets that sell to the hispanic/latino communities), many bags of beans would literally collect dust. Up until this year. It's August, and WalMart cannot keep split peas on the shelves. Last year, nothing moved for about 9 months of the year.

With all of these lentils on hand, I'll be looking for recipes for lentil loaves, burgers, lasagna (lost a really good recipe), etc...

Rachel Ray recently had a couple of episodes on split peas and lentils. One was a soup, then a couple of lentil salad dishes, and then a veggie burger that's better than the "fake meat" you buy at the store. She didn't say it was better than the fake meat, she said it was a cost cutter. Here the fake meat has been running around $9 or more a pound.

So yeah a one pound bag of lentils for $3 will make a lot of veggie burgers.
