EBOLA LaGuardia workers on strike due to Ebola concerns

I don't blame them for going on strike. The CDC is enhancing screening (asking more questions) and LaGuardia was not on the list of 5 airports.

This could be the beginnings of the economic effects that CDC? seemed so worried about in their TV interview on Wednesday.

LaGuardia workers on strike due to Ebola concerns

Since employees deal with bodily fluids without proper gear, the current Ebola scare has heightened their concerns, according to AirServ. Terminal D serves Delta.

QUEENS, N.Y. -- AirServ cabin cleaners at LaGuardia airport were on strike Thursday morning because of concerns over Ebola contamination.

Only Terminal D workers were on strike. The AirServ company, which has thousands of workers throughout the country serving five different U.S. airports, explained that workers in this particular terminal have documented health and safety violations. They have also filed complaints with Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Good. Glad this group decided to advocate for themselves, as it doesn't appear anyone else is. Hopefully more will follow suit, I would not want to clean up any aircraft at this point in time. PRO ACTIVE!!

I wish all the airports personal and the airline flight crews would do this....maybe the idiot in the white house would get the message.

LaGuardia is not an international airport. It only services domestic flight (and some precleared flights like Bermuda and Canada)

But what about the planes coming into the airport - are they all only used for domestic flights. I don't have any idea. I was kind of shocked to see how many routes planes have and how quickly they are sent off on another route. And frankly just how many are flying around all over the place at any given time. But then I'm a stay in one place kind of person! and glad of it.

Yep. How many people will starve to death
if Wall-mart AND McDonald's are closed?

And those I'm sure were the economic effects the CDC was/is so worried about in the interview on Fox.

It is a good start. This is how the collapse of the Soviet strong hold over Poland started. This at least shows promise that nobody from CDC or .gov can now give me.

I pointed out on another thread that the airlines can refuse to allow anyone from one of the effected african countries to board their aircraft to fly anywhere in the world.
Obama has no authority tell them they cannot do that.

Wow, that's a side-benefit I never thought of! VERY good point, and I agree. If all the people who are responsible for cleaning international flights would refuse to clean up these potential bio-hazards, that'd shut down air travel in its tracks.

It is also why I think the CDC is squashing/sitting on information regarding exactly how many people in Dallas are sick and who/where they are. The debacle with regards to the handling of Mr. Duncan's case will bear the fruit of many more secondary cases, if not tertiary ones IMHO. I hate to say it but just because we don't *know* about them does not mean they're not there.

Let's Go Brandon!
This is great news, and I am glad to see that people are
starting to stand up.

However, this will not end well for these workers.

If they are union, there maybe a clause in their contract that
prevents this type of job action.

If they are not union, they will be ordered back to work.

If they do not return to work, they will be fired,
and then replaced with illegal aliens.

If the issue cannot be resolved between the company and the employes,
the federal government will demand that this action cease,
and an EO of some kind forces them back to work.

It is what it is now in the ole USA.
Now we have some idea what people experieced
when they lived under communism.

We are so screwed.

Regards to all,
Nowski
