Kerry's concession speech - I'm impressed

bwd - would the country have been any less divided if Kerry had won instead?

I don't think the candidates cause the division we see. They reflect it, but they are not the solution to it. Until we find that, there probably can be no ideal candidate that "unites" this country.

This candidate showed he "could" be impressive to independents like me, at least with the attitude displayed in this speech. The fact is that he chose not to do so for the entire time he was running for office.
Actually, there were several instances in which he did this, just as there were probably several instances from Bush as well. Even in the last debate, Kerry was reflecting on the last words from his dying mother. At the time, I think some people were saying he was simply pandering.

I think people always see the candidate in a different light once they've won or lost, regardless of what they actually say.

Pentel - that could be. But based on what I'd seen before, I found both Edwards and Kerry's speechs to be the exact opposite of what I'd previously seen. On the other hand, I found Bush and Cheney's speech to be absolutely flat, dull and otherwise without a lick of energy. Didn't expect what I saw there either.
