Kerry supporters bloviating in my office

I seem to be the only anti-Kerry person in my corner of the office. I don't talk politics at work, it does nothing but create bad feelings. But the pro-Kerry contingent have been loudly bloviating at the top of their lungs about "stolen elections", "stupid southern voters", etc.
They seem to ignore the fact that no everyone here marches in idealogical lock-step.

I want to stand up and yell SHUT THE F*** UP!

I don't like Bush, and I don't like Kerry, and I don't want to hear their wild theories on why they lost!!!! Bunch of sore loosers.

OK, tell them to "Shut the f*ck up and get to work. The company doesn't pay you to talk politics".

Either that or when they start cranking off stop what you are doing and play MineSweeper on the PC or put your feet on the desk.

When they boss walks by and asks what the h*ll you are doing just say you are getting your free time like those talking politics. (This also works great if you have a co-worker who spends most of their time on "smoke breaks".)

I did get in an argument about the electoral college with one yesterday. At least Bush's win of the popular vote has shut off that spigot of drivel today.

It's amazing how they're so against the EC when they've won the PV, but so pro-EC when they've lost the popular vote.

I feel like smacking this one guy, and he's the one with the loudest voice.

I'm also super-irritable because I only had 3 1/2 hours of sleep!

Okay, is bloviating a real word? I've looked through 3 dictionaries and can't find it. Can you enlighten me? :D

Sorry Deena - it may be a regional thing, or just my family that uses it  .

Bloviating = loudly ranting on in a pompous way in a totally one-sided manner that does not provide any opportunities for discussion or dissenting opinions.

Fred Flintstone had a bloviating sort of style about him, same with Ralph Cramden.
Michael Moore is also a world-class bloviator.

bloviate:

To discourse at length in a pompous or boastful manner: “the rural Babbitt who bloviates about ‘progress’ and ‘growth’” (George Rebeck).

Edit: Looks like Tweakette beat me to it. :)

Bloviating? Right there in the office? I'd make them clean it up if I were you Tweak. No one should have to work in those conditions!

Kerry supporters here in my office are in mourning. All are moping around and very depressed. One in particular is physically ill because of Bush's likely win. Keeps moaning and whining (while surfing the net) "oh, nooooooo, oh, nooooooo". Another refuses to take off her sunglasses. (Crying?) Too much drama!

at work

The most hard-core Kerry supporter (a very left-wing sort of guy) at my location did not show up for work today!!! He put all his marbles on Kerry and was EXTREMELY loud about it before the election, spending quite a bit of time electioneering for Kerry at work (not suggested, btw). Seems he chose not to eat crow, and just make himself scarce.

The others have mostly kept their mouths shut, pro or anti-Kerry.

As they say, class will tell, and...

well, I'm sure you know the rest.

Gloating, boasting, taunting, and in-your-face rhetoric doesn't help change the opinions of others. If anything, it ticks off the target audience.

Pride usually cometh before fall.
