Fruit Keeping birds from cherry trees

Our cherry trees have quite a few young cherries getting ready for our eating but the birds are starting to line up for them.

I see reflective tape on Amazon but the reviews aren't that great.

Any better ideas/ways to keep the birds from eating up our cherries?

In a previous home we tried old CD's hanging but didn't work much.

The only thing that seems to stop them is a cat in the tree or bird mesh hung over the tree. Though they still can poke holes in the fruit.

I have wondered about building a frame over the tree and then putting the mesh over the frame. Too lazy for that. I am now sharing the mulberries with the birds. The cats also harvest their share of birds....lol

Got one on the back porch yesterday.

Haven't tried this myself but an Amish friend of our neighbor, as told to us by the neighbor, drapes 3 foot pieces of black garden hose or tubing in his fruit trees and the birds go nuts thinking that they are snakes. Amazon sells life size rubber snakes that look real at reasonable prices too that would achieve the same effect I would think. Worth a try if you have any old black soaker hose laying around.

Good to know, thanks!
